Hatari smiled and stood. "Who all is coming with?" She asked as the three of them walked towards the bottom of Pride Rock. She wanted to get off the subject of Ayria and her blindness as quickly as possible. It was something she knew Ayria had heard countless times before, but it just didn't feel right. It didn't seem fair. Then, she realized something: The moment her aunt had looked into Ayria's eye's, she could see what Ayria was like as a cub, before she left. It was written all over Vitani's face. The helpless cub that she was. She left her life behind, knowing the danger that lay ahead. But nothing stopped her, and she came back stronger... something that Hatari could never do in Ayria's position. She suddenly felt great admiration for Ayria, and that was something special. Something she knew she wouldn't find in any ordinary lion.

Vitani let out a little sigh of relief as she felt the tension slowly fade away. She would apologize to Ayira later, but at the moment, the words she needed weren't there. "Well some of the youngsters volunteered to come, for experience and training ya know, but...I don't really wanna be responsible for them so I thought I might as well ask you to come as well. These chicks are hopeless I tell you, they'll need to be looked after." she giggled.

[Arani]

Hatari chuckled slightly. "Alrighty then. Let the training begin and hope we catch something." The younger ones were waiting at the bottom of Pride Rock. "Should I ask Tahi and Huru to come along? You know... for security sake?" She asked.

Vitani glanced at the youngsters, many of whom were bouncing around like monkeys with huge grins on their faces. They were evidently rather excited about this hunt. "Yes,please" She said, realizing just what a difficult task this might turn out to be, "The more security,the better."

[Arani]

Hatari nodded and ran off while Vitani and Ayria met up with the youngsters. She ran towards the middle of Pride Rock where the Pride often gathered at this time. Tahi was talking to his mother and sisters when Hatari ran up to him.

"Hey Tahi. We were about to go out hunting and were wondering if you and Huru could come along. We've got the youngsters coming and it would be nice for a little extra security." She said.

"Oh, ya sure. Huru's out with Isabella, I'm sure we'll meet up with them." Tahi stood and shook himself. "Lead the way." Hatari smiled at her step-family and they both walked off towards Vitani and Ayria. As soon as they met up, they were on the hunt.

"Okay guys, don't lag behind or wander off, we really need to stay together today. Any wanderers..." She shot a look at one particular lioness. "Will get a lecture from me. And we all just love my lectures don't we?" Tahi began to say something but Hatari shot him a look and he fell silent. She didn't want to freak out the kids about it... not yet.

Vitani nodded approvingly. These adolescents knew nothing about Hofu's attack and now wasn't a good time to tell them. It would do them more harm than good at this point, she thought to herself. One quick glance at Ayira confirmed that a similar thought had just entered her mind.
"Which route are we taking?" She asked, turning to Hatari. "I have a feeling we should avoid going anywhere near the Southern border today."
"We should definitely check around the waterhole first." Vitani interrupted, "It's warm out, there will be plenty of zebras and wildebeest about."

[Arani]

"Right, away from the southern border, just like every day, and stay away from the gourge too." Everyone looked at her with the question 'Why the gourge?' "Uh, vision reasons. Anyway, I agree with Vitani, the waterhole is a good place to start. After that we should head towards the eastern border and go our normal route." Everyone nodded, and they were off. Vitani was right, there were lots of animals out today. Hatari was at the front. The moment she crouched, everyone else did. Tahi stayed and watched at a distance, but close enough so that he could run up and defend. One of the antelope fell behind, and she pounced. She almost imediatly felt warm blodd trickle down her chin as she sank her teeth into it's flesh. Vitani ran up to help her hold it down while Ayria gave the final blow to the neck, and a moment later, it was dead. Hatari wiped the blood off her chin. "Now," She said, turning to the youngsters, who were starring wide eyed at them. "Which one of you wants to try..." She fell silent. Something wasn't right. Something was missing.
