Your fondest TLK memories?

Your fondest TLK memories?

Postby SuperBabySimba » December 30th, 2010, 8:01 pm

Share some of your TLK memories from the past that you are for some reason especially fond of remembering? (:

Mine are all family related...

1.) When my sister gave me the Simba&Nala picture in frames. It is beautiful and if I remember correctly it wasn't even for my birthday, she just wanted to buy it for me. She's passed away now, being the reason this holds currently the most emotional value.
:ghost2:

2.) Finally getting to see it in theater with my brother, in 2003. It was much fun as I'm very close with him and I'd always wanted to see the film in theater.

3.) The day Mom gave the VHS to me in 1995, with a bag of Bamboo Bear candies. (I liked Bamboo Bears too a lot.) I remember the moment as if it was yesterday. I remember the emotion very vividly as I held it in my hands and stared at the front cover. 'OMG it's mine! MY PRECIOUS!!!' <3 And I hadn't even seen it yet. I had just turned 11.
:excited:

4.) All the times when my baby cousin came to visit us and we always watched the film in the evening after sauna. He was three and I was twelve and he always sat in my lap, and was never afraid during the scary scenes, but his Mom always had to ask. ^^
:snuggle:

5.) My uncle tells me about the PC game and promises to get a demo version of it for me. Lol, he told about it in a way that made me think 'how old you think I am?' but I loved him anyway. He was my favorite uncle, (my only uncle) and we got along really well.
:retro:

....

I don't really have memories related to Simba's Pride that I could remember especially well other than some random moments wherein I'm watching it. I was fourteen when it came out and I bought and watched it right away but i guess it didn't impress me much though I really like the film and have never disliked it.

When my parents bought me the VHS tape and the Elephant graveyard playset (along with pretty much all of the action figures lol) Sadly I do not remember watching it at the cinema as I was only 2 or 3 years old at the time (they never re-released it to cinemas where I live) . But according to my mum I enjoyed it a lot back then =) I really wish I could remember it!

I remember hating the stampede scene and thinking "She looks evil. Why is she making that face?" everytime I watched this scene:

My parents were chucking out all my old VHS tapes, so when they weren't looking I stole TLK & TLK 2 and hid under my bed with them.

I got out, obviously xD; I just left the videos under there so they wouldn't get chucked out, and put them somewhere safe later x3 lulz x3 not perticularly a fond memory, but I watched TLK for the first time when i was like 4 so I don't remember much about anything great happening :/

The movie came out when I was 8. I remember my mother bought TLK colouring and activity books for me and one of my older sisters. This was before I had seen the movie, so I knew nothing about the characters. But I remember falling instantly in love with the lions, and my sister, my friends and myself had hours of fun colouring the pictures. Of course we had even more fun after we`d seen the movie and knew what the story was about. :P

Another fond TLK memory is playing with my younger cousin. He lives in a different city, but he`d come visit a few times each year. He had some TLK figurines, but I had none. So we`d mix in other lion figurines as well as other animals and Disney characters to act as the characters we were missing. Zazu was a "flying dinosaur" (I don`t remember the name of it now) and Simba was best friends with Bambi, lol.

My mother bought me two TLK sweaters with cub Simba and cub Nala on them. (When my grandmother saw it, she didn`t realize Simba and Nala were lions, she thought they were monkeys!) I loved them and wanted to wear them all the time. One day I was wearing a TLK sweater to school, and during break we were playing a game related to the colour of the clothing we wore. The leader of the game was standing behind a line, with the other kids a few meters away from them. The leader would say something like, "everyone wearing blue can take two steps forward." The aim of the game was to be the first to reach the spot where the leader was standing, and so be the leader of the next round.
I remember I was pretty far behind the others kids, so the girl who was leading the game said "everyone wearing Nala colours can take four steps forward." :teehee:

My first one is the day my mom took me to see the movie when it first came out. I was 10 and the day I came home from camp, she got me a kid's meal from Burger King which had Lion King toys in it at the time. Afterwards, she took my little sister home for a nap and she and I saw it together.

My next one is from that Christmas. My parents got my sister and I a lot of Lion King gifts. I got a Lion King outfit which consisted of white leopard print pants (I was especially excited about this because it was my first leopard print attire ever) and a sweatshirt which had an image of cub Simba at the top and an image of cub Nala strutting proudly with eyes closed and nose in the air at the bottom. I also got a pair of light blue and yellow socks which had a headshot of adult Simba on them and a kissing Simba and Nala.

Next after that is when I was on a trip to Washington D.C. when I was 12 and bought The Art of The Lion King Miniature there in my very first trip to any Disney store.

In 2003 when the special edition dvd came out was pretty exciting especially with all the merchandise and since I had plenty of money then, I was able to get the gift set which came with the dvd, a little behind the scenes book and a bunch of Lion King animation sketches.

Then my most recent fond Lion King memory is when I found a very nice framed print for only $1 at Good Will of Simba and Nala during I Just Can't Wait to Be King a few months ago.

I can't remember a lot of memories of The Lion King, but of The Lion King II. (I was born only a few years before it was made, so I was still quite young)

Anyways, me and my family went to our friends' house for some Church meeting/social development thing. (I was around three or four at the time) We went downstairs to where they had a t.v and several VHS tapes...actually they had tons and most of them were Disney classics. Even as a cub I was excited by classic Disney films, so I eagerly rummaged through the pile of videos. One that popped out at me had the figure of a male lion with a beautiful female cub resting in his arms with a sunset in the background. Now they had other movies like Aladdin and the Little Mermaid, but I always came back to this one. I never actually knew they had created a sequel to The Lion King. (Yes, I could figure out it was The Lion King related because of the image; I mean, who doesn't know about The Lion King?)

So I requested them to put it in...and they did. I was captured by this movie and I adored the songs We Are One and Upendi. (Hey, who could blame me? I was a little kid.) I always love this movie, and whenever I watch it, I remember that lovely day when I was introduced to the sequel. *Sighs dreamily*

My love for TLK all started like this:

When TLK came out, it was 2 years before I was born. But, while I was in elementary school, I first saw TLK when I was 7. Later, I forgot about it for 5 years not remembering anything about it. On my 12th Christmas eve, I thought in my head "Did I ever saw a movie called The Lion King when I was little?". When I started watching the movie, I reunited with TLK saying in my head "OMG! I remember this! I saw this in 2nd grade in music class!!!) That night was also the first time I saw TLK2 and TLK 1 1/2 because I never saw the sequels when I was little. Ever since that greatest moment happened, TLK has been my whole life to me!

My memories from my past has brought me up to my greater future as a teenager who has TLK as her #1 favorite movie (and obsession) ever!

I remember cheering for Simba when he was fighting with Scar: "Simba, Simba, Simba. Go Simba!"
