Great Scott -- one large influx of replies, a sudden lull, then I come back to this thread to find that it's expanded to four pages?? Criminy!
To respond to the majority of the responses, yes, Mheetu was the first name that sprang to my mind when I saw that cub, even though it's unlikely that the artist heard of him. I admit that didn't think the cubsitting scenario was that likely since Sarabi and Sarafina are the only lionesses in the comic, and the only babysitters we've seen in the TLK universe are Zazu, Timon and Pumbaa.
In regards to Sarafina and Sarabi's coloring errors: the two of them actually look pretty on-model at the bottom of page 4, but then the artist(s) just
had to mess up Sarabi's colors on page 6 and then give Sarafina a face like Sarabi and leave Sarabi's ear rims uncolored on page 8 (which makes me wonder, is the lioness holding the cub
really supposed to be Sarafina?). Also, I just noticed that Sarabi's tail is green in the last panel of page 7.
Speaking of colours... There were some funny coloring errors in the comic.

Yeah -- I think this comic's set a new record for coloring errors. (I'm actually putting together a page displaying some of the more amusing coloring errors I've found in various TLK comics.)

And aww at Sarabi calling Mufasa "honey." <3
At first I thought it was Sarafina.

Same here -- and y'know, one of the directors of TLK
did say that
Nala's father was "either Scar or Mufasa" at the 10th anniversary celebration of TLK...and considering how much Sarabi and Sarafina change designs in the comics, it seems like Mufasa could have easily mistaken one for the other...

The baby's head is strangely coloured. It looks like the lower part of its face is lighter colour than the main coat, the same colour as the muzzle and belly... Or am I seeing things?

Could be how its scanned?
I thought the odd coloring on the cub's face was a scanning quirk too, but it seems to be on his face in all three of the panels he is in. By the way,
here's the unresized page so you can get a really good look at him.
