Thanks to the invaluable INDUCKS site, I've unearthed yet another TLK comic. This one was originally published in 1998 but was translated into Dutch only this year!
At first, it seemed like a fairly interesting comic which became even more and more intriguing as I skimmed through it. Eight pages instead of the usual six or four? Multiple appearances by Scar and Sarafina? A first page which features Nala instead of Simba? These morsels were certainly tempting enough, but what I encountered on the last page nearly made me scream with excitement, forcing me to stop everything else I was doing and translate the whole thing. Consider it a belated Christmas present to the fandom.

Now that you've (hopefully) read the comic, here's my usual commentary on it. This comic is a bit like "The Crocobuffalion", where many plot elements pop out of nowhere but never really go anywhere. It's the same thing here -- the only title I could find for this comic was "Simba and a Snake for a Friend", and there's a good five pages between the introduction of the friendly snake plot element and its resolution. I called this comic "Simba and the Snake" because I didn't want to leave this comic without a title and I honestly didn't care for "Simba and a Snake for a Friend".
There are also parts of the story that are just glossed over and never mentioned again which you'd think would get a lot more attention. Mufasa discovering that Scar was speaking with the hyenas and yelling at them for letting Simba escape? Never mentioned again. You'd think Simba would get a stern lecture from Mufasa for endangering Nala, but Mufasa just goes to take a nap. And most importantly, who the heck is that cub Sarafina is holding on page 8, and why does no one in the comic mention it!?!?
