Nala

don't get me wrong, Nala is my favorite character, but I really don't like her in TLK2. I do realize Simba was overprotective of Kiara, but I think a little more interaction between mother and daughter would have been great! And also the way they drew/colored her in TLK2 is weird in my oppinion. You're right, she looks too old. But she's still my #1 favorite! And she's gorgeous in TLK! It's obvious where Kiara got her looks from! :smile2: :please: :ew:

Not from Simba and his funny hairdo
She looks really old in the second movie. They made her chin so large. Compare her chin to Kiara's: :happy2: :pretty:

Yeah, I guess they tried to make her look more like Sarabi. But it ended up not working because Nala shouldn't be portrayed as an old lioness =P Plus Simba and Nala weren't even that old, if we were assuming the presentations in the first and second movie were the same.

Nala is my all-time favourite character, I loved her even before I saw the movie! (My mother bought me a TLK-colouring book.) She is just amazing all around.
In SP I really cannot understand why her eyes are blue..? :hesitant:
I think it was a shame that Nala had such a small role in SP. I know her function in the TLKstory is to act as Simba’s voice of reason, but she should have been given more lines! I dislike her being in the background in several scenes and not speaking up against Simba’s actions.
And I also agree to what JesstheCougar said, some Nala-Kiara time would be lovely. :)

Well, seeing as I grew up with TLK and Nala was probably the first female disney character that I had a loving attachment towards, I have to say that I still like her character a lot, but she'll never top Kiara in my book. ^^ I liked her a bit better as a cubby, since she was more playful and feisty then, although her adult character is lovable too in a more thoughtful manner.

I prefer cub Nala too. When it comes to adult Nala, I definatly prefer the TLK-version. In SP, she seems to have grown much older, she has gained a lot of wisdom and life-excperience, and she is the very image of calm and understanding. I feel like the same thing happened to Jenna from Balto. After becoming a mother and getting older, she seems to have lost some of her "spark." I do love the four little moments in SP where Nala shows that she still has her playfulness and fierceness intact.

When she pins Simba right after cub Kiara has left Pride Rock, I love the look on her face! "haha Simba, I can still pin you!"

When she goes with Simba to rescue Kiara from the Outlands, and comes face to face with Zira. I love how Nala stands there, muscles tense, ready to spring, cold blue fire from her eyes. Then Zira and Nala share a look of pure loathing and comptemt. Makes you wonder if there is a story there...

When Kovu has rescued Kiara from the fire, and her parents arrive at the scene. Nala reminds Simba that he owes Kovu the life of his daughter. I love it when she speaks up like that!

Lastly, when she confronts Vitani in the final battle. Vitani appears saying "where’s your pretty daughter, Nala?" (best line ever!) and Nala exclaims "Vitani!" with an extreme fierceness before they start fighting. Again, this makes me wonder if something happened between Zira and Vitani and Nala. :hmm:

Hehe, again, I think that it all hints towards some back story involving the disappearance of Kopa. ^^ Aside from Zira and the Outlanders being followers of Scar, I don't think Simba and Nala and all the other Pridelanders really have any other motive to be so hostile towards them. That's why I think there is a missing piece of the story that ties the hatred they share for each other together. ^^ Just my thoughts though.

That is a very good point. ;) Personally, I think the hostility has to do with their loayalty to Scar. But I don’t understand why Nala would be so hostile towards Vitani. She must have been an infant when Zira was exiled...

I found Nala's voice to be kind of wierd in TLK2, Nala's not a grandma, she's an adventurous, beautiful huntress. I think the writers lost a part of her in TLK2 :\

When it comes to Nala, she is probably my favorite lioness in the TLK films. I've always liked her, the way she acts, her personality and pretty much everything! No matter where Simba went as a cubby, she'll tag along! I've always preferred Nala as a cubby. I mean, I like her as an adult too but her cubby form is my personal favorite. ^^Nothing can really top Nala lol. :) She's the one who kept Simba tamed. lol. ^^
