Prologue
The rain was heavy as a flash of lightning and a clap of thunder came and died. Then another... and another. The rain came down unceasingly. And those, to Hatari anyway, were the sights and sounds of death... And on this night she remembered... she remembered everything...
"Mom? Dad? Wake up... wake up!!!" Hatari screamed into the night over the rain that was pounding on the ground. Her voice was instantly lost to the howling wind and the pouring rain. Tears were streaming down her cheeks as she nudged the bodies of her parents, who were alive and well one minute, and the next were laying in front of Hatari, cold and lifeless. What happened? All she heard were two loud bangs, and when she turned again, her parents were dead. How? And why? She tried once more to wake them, but it was no use. She backed away from the corpsus. The rain had become harder now. Her fur, though it was short, was clinging tightly to her body. She was soaked through, and was shivering from the cold. Suddenly, as if the devils had come to take her away as well, something sharp hit her in the rear end. She turned to see weird creatures walking towards her. They had pale skin with no fur, and they were wearing funny looking things that covered most of their bodies. One was holding a long black stick with a hole at the end. Her vision started to blur, and then suddenly, she was fast asleep...
