Why exactly did Nala and Simba fall in love?

You know, they completly cut CYFTLT from the movie (and with it they cut the entire romantic subplot) until Elton John saw an early screening and said he felt the movie was emotionally weaker without it. The directors understood he was right. One of them even said his favorite part of the movie was Simba watching Nala drinking during the song. CYFTLT is one of the most famous sequences in the movie and the song was and still is very popular.
And think about it: they wanted CYFTLT out of the movie but in the end Simba and Nala still had a child. Then people would complain and say "They should've some romantic interaction on screen."

This contredi film, since it addresses "bweaaa" Zazu at simba, proposal then it appears in the bd with a heart....
Perhaps in the same reaction as me when I look at my favourite actor...

Do we have any sense of time lapse from when Nala arrives in the jungle to when Simba and Nala argue? While we can tell that time changes via the sun setting in the background, does that mean it is all compounded to just a day?
The whole "CYFTLT" sequence is a montage of Simba and Nala falling in love. Perhaps it happens over a couple of weeks? Afterall, the point of a montage is to move the storyline forward at a faster pace when actual time is limited...
