Chapter one: All is Well
Spoiler: show
It was a bright and cheerful morning, the sun beamed onto the once dried and barren lands of Pride Rock. The land under its new rule of king Simba, had been restored to a place filled with life and joy. Down near the watering hole the young prince Kopa was playing a game of hide and seek with the other cubs in the pride, they all hid throughout the kingdom, and Kopa and his Uncle Ushujaa, searched high and low for them. Normally Kopa wouldn't be allowed to leave the den by himself his father worried to much about him, but with Ushujaa at his side he could travel the land as much as he wanted, so long as he was home before dark.
Ushujaa had grown into a perfect example of teenage adolescence, his crimson mane grew down to his broad shoulders. His eyes matched the blood red of his mane. Yes he was a much more fierce lion then he was as a cub, and his personality matched his build, he was much more courageous then in his childhood, and he was much stronger then he ever could have seen himself becoming when he was a cub...
Kopa and Ushujaa were searching the waterhole currently, they would use paw signals so they wouldn't have to make to much of an entrance... Kopa was searching near the willow tree that towered over the water, He looked over to his uncle for assistance though Ushujaa didn't often help Kopa, the cubs felt like it was cheating should he interfere. Ushujaa felt bad for Kopa, this was the third game today where Kopa had to search because he couldn't find anyone. Kopa made his way towards his uncle, with his head hanging. “I guess I lost again.” he muttered to himself.
Ushujaa put his paw onto Kopa's shoulder as if to reassure him “Well, keep quiet there is someone here.” he turned his head towards the watering hole and pointed to a lily pad with a long stem sticking out of the water. Kopa gave a smirk and silently headed towards it, once he arrived on the edge of the water he drew his claw and clogged the the stem with it. Within seconds a young pale lion cub shot out of the water coughing and gasping for air.
Kopa laughed, he had found his best friend. Mheetu who was queen Nala's younger brother they had named him after his father since the two looked almost identical. Coughing the young lion protested “No fair Kopa, Ushujaa showed you where I was.” then Mheetu joined Kopa in a laugh as he pounced him. “What's the matter Kopa, can't find us on your own?” The two rolled around in the dirt playfully trying to pin one another.
Ushujaa watched for a few moments, then pounced them both.Pinning them easily... “Well, it's getting dark guys, we better head back to the den...” so as the sun set, Kopa, Ushujaa and Mheetu started to head towards the top of Pride Rock where Simba was waiting he looked worried, more so then usual...
As soon as Simba was sure Ushujaa could here him He started to scold them “Where have you three been?!?” he softly nuzzled his son, and motioned him inside as Mheetu started to chuckle “You too Mheetu, Nala Is waiting for you.” Slowly the two cubs made their way into the den, once they were inside, Simba gave Ushujaa a stern look and spoke once more “Ushujaa you know my rule, if Kopa is with you... you need to be back here before dark...” Ushujaa looked up to the stars while he paced back and forth atop Pride Rock
“Simba, Relax we were a few minutes late I know, but...” Ushujaa looked to Simba, he could tell that Simba was not in the mood for excuses... “She's still not back yet is she...?” Ushujaa looked to the stars once more, “Well have you told Mheetu that you called off the search yet? After all it is his mother.” Ushujaa feared the worst... Sarafina hadn't returned with her hunting party one day, no one had seen her since...
Simba sighed “Nala is explaining the situation to Mheetu now. but it's worst then you think.” Simba came closer to Ushujaa and whispered the dreadful truth into his ear “We found her body. Mheetu can't know yet, for now the search has just been called off.” Ushujaa looked at Simba Shocked,
He stayed silent for a moment, then he whispered “Do we know what happened?” he waited for a response for a few moments when he received nothing but silence, he yelled “Simba, it could be Scar! You have to let me scout the area and see what I can...” Simba jumped at Ushujaa and quickly put his paw over Ushujaa's mouth...
“We've almost fully recovered from his tyranny... He's dead Ushujaa, That's all there is to it...” Simba let Ushujaa to his feet “And besides, he's been gone for so long, why would he return now?” It had been years since the disappearance of the dreaded tyrant Scar... Most presumed him to be dead but not Ushujaa, not until the body was found until then... He was still a threat...
Ushujaa lowered his voice to a whisper once more, “Please, Simba, I have to at least take a look around the pride lands on my own...” Simba turned his back to Ushujaa and headed towards the den
Simba paused for a moment so he could speak “Why is it so important to you, that you go on your own...?” he questioned Ushujaa's intentions...
Ushujaa thought for a moment, he looked down to his father's claw that hung from his neck... his secret must be maintained...no one could know that he still could speak to the kings of the past quickly he came up with an excuse...“No one has to know! If I find nothing, So be it... but if I find proof scar is still out there we need to be ready!"
Simba turned his head to face Ushujaa “You have one day, that's all... then i don't want to hear his name in these lands ever again!” Simba turned to walkto the den...
Ushujaa looked to his father's claw... "That's all i'll need." he whispered to himself and dashed down to where they had found Sarafina's body

Chapter two: Memories of an Ally
Spoiler: show
While Ushujaa searched through the Pridelands for evidence, an older lion known as Sius tossed and turned as he slept atop a large rock within the canyon. Sius was a rogue lion, he wandered the different areas of Africa searching for something to do. However he did enjoy the Pridelands and he brought his family to visit them often. Though something still haunted him, the day of king Mufasa's death would not, could not leave his mind. It played over and over again as though he were reliving the moment.
He stood on the cliff side watching in horror as the wildebeest stampede continued. A bird flew right over him and dove down to a small cub hanging onto a lone tree. Two more lions arrived. Sius recognized one of them. Mufasa, king of the Pride Lands, though the other was a stranger.
He saw Mufasa jump down into the stampede, risking his life to save the cub. Sius ran down a few feet to get a closer view. He ran right down the cliff until he reached the other lion and stopped. He searched desperately, but he couldn't see Mufasa or the cub. Just then, someone shouted "Scar!" Sius looked down and saw Mufasa clinging to the side of the cliff. "Brother, help me!" Mufasa called out. The other lion merely looked down at Mufasa with anger in his eyes. Without a word, he sank his claws into Mufasa's paws. And as he let out a roar of pain, the other lion leaned down to his level, and ushered the words, "Long live the king."
With one swift yank, Mufasa was thrown by his own brother into the stampeding wildebeests. Sius' heart stopped. His mouth ajar. And as Mufasa fell, Sius heard a heart shattering cry from the cub.
Sius awoke, as he always did terrified of his nightmare. Gasping for breath. He looked back around. Nobody was there. As Sius caught his breath he lay his head back down. "How long," he thought to himself "How long has it been since that day...?" He looked up to the stars that hung amongst each other in the night sky "Mufasa, what are you trying to tell me...?"
It's getting late Sius thought as he rose from his usual napping spot "Well whatever he's trying to tell me will have to wait. I need to get home." He turned and walked through his little jungle oasis, it was really a beautiful place to live in the sound of the rushing waterfall was always so peaceful to him. As he continued his path along the waterfall he could hear leaves rustling in the trees above him. "Who's there?!?" He looked up but saw nothing, cautiously he continued.
As Sius kept walking he felt like he was being watched, he kept looking over his shoulder up into the trees that seemed as tall as the sky itself. leaves fell from these green skyscrapers as a baboon fell hanging from a branch with his tail, he was swinging a staff and chanting words that Sius could barely understand... "Asante sana, squash banana, we we nugu, mi mi apana!” the baboon continued to laugh pointing at Sius
Sius jumped back, startled by this stranger, he always thought it was just him and his family in this oasis... "What are you doing here?" he asked trying to catch his breath
"The question not what am i doing here, it is what are you doing here?" the stranger continued to laugh and point, almost trying to provoke Sius.
Sius tried not to let on to his aggravation, he had other things to deal with rather then this baboon trying to push his buttons. "I live here, now explain yourself..."
The baboon put his fingers to his chin, then after what seemed like much thought he came to a conclusion... "Asante sana, squash banana, we we nugu, mi mi apana!” He cackled and laughed much harder then before...
Sius could no longer hold his anger in, he was red in the face. "What does that mean anyway!?!" he yelled as he stepped towards the baboon in a threatening motion.
The baboon laughed "It means you are a baboon..." he pointed his staff at Sius "...and i am not!"
"I've had enough of this" Sius started to walk away from the monkey but he continued to pester Sius, following him around the branches and vines of the trees humming the tune of his chant. Sius turned to the frustrating baboon "Would you please cut that out!"
The baboon chuckled "Can't cut it out! It'll grow right back!"
Sius was now not only frustrated he was confused "What are you saying?"
The baboon cut his laughter off "Oh it's not me, it's them!" The baboon pointed to the sky with his staff.
This only furthered Sius' confusion... "Who? don't tell me their's more of you?"
"No! Look closer The great kings are up there, and they watch over us all..." The monkey explained
As Sius gazed up at the stars hanging from the night sky he asked the baboon "So I take it you knew Mufasa?"
The baboon shook his head in disapproval "Correction I know Mufasa..." The baboon put his arm around Sius' shoulder and pointed to the stars once more... "I tell you he's up there watching us right now!"
Could he really be watching me, I mean what would he want me for? Sius contemplated the idea for a moment "Then ask him a question for me..."
"Why don't you ask him yourself!?" The baboon seemed almost offended "I'm only a guide, not a messenger!" he screamed as he stormed off, laughing far in the distance.
Ask him myself...? Sius thought. He stood there in the opening of the trees and looked up at the stars above him for a few moments he was silent just listening to the all of the sounds of the night... " Umm, Hi... I'm Sius..." Sius paused for a moment... "But i bet you already knew that... This is stupid!" He started to walk away, then as he reached the end of the clearing he looked back to the stars... "Mufasa, what were you trying to tell me!?!" He yelled and waited for awhile without answer... "That monkey was crazy, and i'm crazy for believing him!" he muttered as he started to run back to his den, but within a few steps he tripped over a branch he tumbled a bit and hit his head knocking him out cold.
