1. If the signature is bigger then what your screen can display without scrolling, your signature it always likely to be to big.
2. If you have paint, or any of those kind of programs, just save that picture moka posted, and open it up. Then go to you signature, see if the whole thing is on your screen. Then press (eigther alt+print screen, or just print screen), then paste it into paint, and crop it to where only the signature is shown. Then paste it over Moka's dimensions image, and you'll be able to see if it fits or not.
3. Essentially as Mike said earlier in the topic, you should be able to fit your index finger onto the dimensions picture, so you can easily just see through your finger if it fits.
4. You can also right click on each image, press properties, and count up each individual images properties.

Just a tip, less can certainly be better then more sometimes. Instead of overly filling your signature with 20 images, you can put like one or two, that hold great importance to you, and you'd still be expressing yourself, and you'd not be cluttering up the forum. Also, remember that an overabundance of text can be annoying too.

Also, when in doubt about if your signature is fitting or not, Personal message a mod, I'm sure they wouldn't mind. They get notifications for PMs, they don't get them for this topic, unless they check their email frequently, and are subscribed to this. So I'd suggest using the PM feature a lot more frequently, because it's quite usefull. Also, don't be afraid to report someone through PM who is going over the limits, aswell.

Let's go over some signature rules first:

• Your entire forum signature (all images put together) must not exceed 700x500 pixels. If it does, we will send you a PM warning you to shrink it down. If you do not shrink it down within 2 weeks we will remove images for you until it meets requirements and we will send you an official warning. Here is a nice chart for you to compare the size of your signature:

• Text CAN exceed the 700px width maximum, because it word wraps (which doesn't stretch out the forum on small monitors), whereas images do not.
• Signatures must not break any of our Universal Rules.

To edit your signature go to your User Control Panel, click Profile and then click Edit Signature. Or, simply click here.

Attention! The signature rules have changed.

The size limits of your forum signature have changed to 575x275 pixels. Please make sure all the images in your signature can fit into the 575x275px grid shown on the first post of this topic and below. (See the first post for more details). Come January 1st, 2011 we will begin notifying members who have not fixed their signatures. On January 15th, if they still haven't fixed their signatures, we will begin to remove the signatures of such members until the signatures meet the requirements and we will give an official warning.



Why'd the limits decrease?!
The staff decided that some of the signatures on this forum are a bit distracting. Signatures should never distract members away from the posts (the actual content of the forum). With concern from some members about the issue of large signatures, the staff have decreased the limit. Hopefully these new restrictions will actually make the forum more enjoyable for everyone! :] The 575x275px limit may look a bit small at first, but many members won't even need to modify their signatures to comply with the new restrictions. Some of you will, though. Keep in mind, many images can simply be resized to fit. If one of your images is just over the limits, try shrinking it a bit. If you don't know how, ask in the graphics forum. ^^

Fair enough I recently got rid of all the extra stuff in mine, I always kind of thought that it only really needs to be like one image and maybe a few links to projects, at most.

Yeah, the reason we have it be an image area instead of limiting the number of images is because a lot of people use the userbars or mood buttons along with a big signature image. With the image area technique we can at least pretend we're being empirical ^^
