In the same scene, as a child, Kiara calls Simba "daddy" but she calls Nala "mom". Humm...

That`s weird. It`s like the writers are underlining that Kiara is closer to Simba.. I mean, Kiara and Nala have maybe two moments of dialogue in the movie. I would love to see more of their mother/daughter relationship. Simba is not Kiara`s only parent.

If I knew nothing about the first movie and if that "mom" was cut, I would think Nala was Kiara's stepmother or something. Just a random lioness who got to be Simba's mate.

Sarabi had a small role in the first one but her relationship with Simba is much more developed. You would think they would give Nala a much bigger role in SP, since she's an important character in the first one.
In the credits they list the characters in this order: Simba, Scar, Mufasa and right after them is Nala.

Too right. It`s really a shame how Nala got such a small role in SP, when she`s such an important character.
It would be so cute if the animators could have included more Kiara/Nala moments, such as Nala giving Kiara a bath, or instructing her in pouncing/stalking/hunting.
