Does anyone know more about the original Nala?

I was reading a Moira Kelly interview about The Lion King and she said she was the 2nd choice for Nala. She went to the casting but the directors picked another actress. That actress actually recorded all her lines with Matthew Broderick but for some reason, the directors decided to record everything again with Moira Kelly. The other actors found out Moira was playing Nala at the premiere.

Does anyone know who was the first choice to play Nala?
