Here is the starter for the RP, "A Loner's Pride" (thank you all again for participating in what looks to be some exciting writing with some awesome characters and authors.) :

While Zera was walking through the grasses of the Pridelands, she focused her mind not on where her feet were stepping but more of where her journey would lead her from here on in. She was two and a half years of age and she wasn't getting any younger. Though she needed to find herself a mate and start a pride of her own, she really had no motivation to do so-- after the display of males she had found so far from where she had lived, there was little to no interest in any of them for potential loves. All they could ever be to her were friends, it seemed. And while Zera trudged through the sea of green blades, her eyes were drifting from side to side to spot her male friends and she nodded to them with small smiles before focusing back on the path she took.

Once her feet stopped on the dirt leading to water, she spotted herself in the midst of herbovurs getting their fill of water which didn't last for long as they spotted the predator coming towards them. Honestly? They were going to freak out over something as simple as a meat eater needing some refreshment? She ignored them, taking her fill of liquid before she looked to them which seemed to have its own way of making them back away and gasp unknowing of what she could and would do next. The endless possibilities of what she could do to make them even edgier were endless, but she chose the high road and took what she needed before she moved on. But when she moved, their eyes weren't so much on her anymore as they were on something else...but what?

Silence. A sound never found in the deep Jungle, and today was no different. From the clicking of the smallest insects, to the growls and grunts f the sleeping predators, the Jungle was literally alive. A constant hive of activity. A constant feeling of belonging, A home?

ROAR!The two lions burst out of the trees and undergrowth, one of them, Brown coat and red eyes, backing away from the vicious assaults from the stronger Jet Black and glossy coated lion, there eyes cold, there bodies locked in adrenaline filed rage, Growls and Roars emanating from there bodies.

Swerving and Ducking to avoid the others blows, the brown lion kept backing away, the black lion still continuing his assault. The brown lion looked around and noticed the waterhole, knowing this as his only escape route, he turned and ran, leaving the black lion behind trying to clear the water, the brown lion jumped.

NOOOO Roared the black lion, his voice like thunder as he pounced at the brown lion, garbing his haunches and pulling him into the water. SPLASH! Bubbles moved towards the surface; they stopped. The lions stayed underwater as the ripples stopped. Neither had noticed the Lioness by the waterhole.

The scene that Zera was witnessing was like nothing she had seen in years. She didn't treat it like it was anything too serious as she dodged her eyes from the two lions to the side where she saw the other animals take a hike away from the blood thirty felines besides herself. Still looking to the side and pondering inwardly if the best thing to do was take her own hike or help the one that seemed to be in pain/fear of the dominant lion. It was really none of her business, so she shouldn't get involved...

With that thought perched in her head, Zera's tail flicked as she walked away from the two, hoping they wouldn't hope to either pursue her nor get her involved. She was never quite one to be in the drama, but somehow no matter how much she tried to keep out of it, it seemed to find her. But the lions weren't coming up, which they should have done by now, right? That got the lioness wondering if they were going to come up any time soon or just...stay down...? As much as a female to avoid the drama, she was also one to be curious like the cat she was. And so, with second thoughts a plenty her paws pivitted around as well as her head, bringing her body back to the side of the waterhole, peering down into the seemingly shallow waters of the hole where she would hope the two bodies would emerge so she didn't have to get herself wet for nothing.

Not far off from the waterhole sleeps a content lion. His crimson mane flowing in the slight breeze, completely unaware of the potential threat to his tranquility. Sius continued to dream. It was a pleasant dream, which he hadn't experienced in quite some time. A small smile on his muzzle showed his utter bliss as his slumber continued. Suddenly, a loud roar abruptly interrupted his sleep. One eye lazily creaked open as his smile faded. Looking around, he saw nothing and so brushed it off as nothing. But that wasn't the case, as a splash soon followed the roar. Sius gave a small sigh and slowly stood. While he didn't care much for the sounds he had heard, the splash told his stomach that he was thirsty. Sius reluctantly headed over to the waterhole, not knowing what awaited him.

Sius arrived at the small oasis. He gazed around the pool and realized that he had company. A rather tasteful lioness. For a moment, Sius forgot what he had come here for. Only when his stomach growled at him did he remember what brought him here. He leaned down to the surface of the water and quenched his thirst. While half of him wanted to finish his drink and go back to sleep, the other half wanted to converse with the lioness on the other side of the waterhole.

Against his will, Sius found himself striding up to the lioness. What am I gonna say? I've never been... good at talking to others... Sius thought. He usually avoided conversation with other animals as often as he could. So maybe this was why he craved to talk with her? Whatever the case, he was not but a few yards from the lioness. Just say the first thing that comes to your mind. It works for other people, right? Sius nodded to himself. Finally within talking distance, he opened his mouth, took in some air, and said "Sius name hi is my."

Sius closed his eyes and put his paw to his face. Whatever chance he had of looking good to this stranger, exploded right in front of him.

Zera's attentions were still focused on the lack of bubbles erupting from the waterhole under her as she stood over a small ledging that allowed her to overlook the waters. With the sun in the right position above her, the lioness had her reflection staring back at her while she payed it little heed. Now was not the time to see if she had any dirt on herself, or even if she was still sporting any dried blood on her muzzle from her lunch earlier. But when the reflected version of herself started to wave under the pressure of ripples being caused by something-- or someone-- she looked over to see it was only a male who had been taking his merry sweet time with his afternoon drink. With that thought in her mind, she looked back down to make sure there was something happening down there or not, inching ever so much closer in anticipation but also reverting her head back knowing that with her luck, there would be a blow to her nose or she would be pulled under.

But when the ripples ceased and she heard the foot steps of the same male striding towards her, mentally she rolled her eyes and inwardly sighed knowing that she would have more than one thing to focus on with this guy coming to speak with her. She lifted her head up and looked down at him, her celestial eyes staring him down from the ledge she stood tall and sturdy on, but she couldn't have looked very intimidating with the body type she had being slim and slender. None the less, she waited for him to make the first move or she would walk.

And he did...some messed up language skills. The lioness stood there and looked at him with a mixture of a smile from wanting to crack up, and a risen eyebrow from how stupid he sounded at that point, but she wasn't one to judge on first impressions much-- especially since she spotted in his eyes that there was something about her that seemed to catch him in the first place. Oh boy..., she thought before jumping down from the ledge and landing on the ground with a light thud and dust clearing from under her feet. "Uhh, hi...Sius" or at least that's what his name was, she assumed. She could only assume since there wasn't much to go on with the broken introduction.

Shocked and embarrassed, Sius buried his muzzle into his paw. He sighed a long drawn out sigh. Why did he even try to talk with her? It's not like he was actually going to strike up an engaging conversation. Though the lioness sounded polite in greeting Sius, he could tell by the look in her eye that she didn't care much for his company. Or she had something else on her mind. Either way, Sius had been in this situation on multiple occasions.

I should just walk away while I still have my dignity. Sius thought to himself. It was for the best. The lioness clearly didn't wish to speak with him, and Sius didn't wish to embarrass himself further. Or at least, what's left of it... With an almost rejected look, Sius turned and walked back toward his 'den'.

As he turned away from the lioness, something caught his paw and pulled his face into the dirt below. He looked back and saw a small root growing out of the ground had caught onto his paw. First his failure at conversation, and now tripped up by a plant? This just wasn't Sius' day. Sius laid his head down and slowly pulled his paw out of the root. A look of utter discontent on his muzzle, he quietly muttered "What else ya got for me?"

Zera couldn't help but roll her eyes. So he slurred his words and messed up a little on the landing, no biggie. Not like it hadn't happened to her on the odd day she didn't remember she was a cat and always landed on her feet. Though she couldn't help being a little amused at his antics, no matter if they weren't intended or not-- they still made her smile. No matter if it looked like she was smiling simply because he was acting like an idiot. He also seemed sarcastic enough to seem like a guy she would hang out with. "You'll find out when you're rolling down a hill into a pit of spikes" lightly she laughed and walked over to him. With her head under his front leg and helping him up with her back and two hind legs, the lion was up. "Upsy daisy, big guy. Alright" groaned the lioness, who wasn't used to lifting large weights. Once he was up on his feet she looked him in the eyes which she hadn't realized up until now what a deep shade of red they were.

"Don't worry about it, dude. We all have our days" she tried to make him feel less of an embarrassment and more like a normal feline such as herself. "You just gotta chill" she winked before she walked back to the large body of water she was peering into before Sius arrive, but she swiveled to look back at him with a light expression, "oh, and I'm Zera". She went back to the water again and looked down but without a word she dived it, torpedoing down to where she found the bodies of the two locked males, guickly grabbing them both by the scruffs of the necks. She was sure that water was going to definitely aid her in this action of two grown males being held by just her mouth and her neck power, but when she hit the surface and tried to pull them up...it would be a whole different story.

Seeing that the body of the one male was already afloat, the lioness allowed him to surface on his own while the other seemed to have no luck in his own swimming abilities. With a push off the rump of the male already hitting the top of the water, she also managed to shoot herself up as well with the scruff of one male in her mouth and bringing herself up as well.

Syira rose to her feet at the coming of dawn. The sun blinded her eyes and she had to shield them with her paw. The night before had been terrible. Once again, she was temporarily banished from the Pridelands; mainly for her treacherous and rude behavior towards the other lions. She could not help it; she had been born that way. As a cub, the evil Outlanders raised her until a large group of lions raided her pride. Syira scrunched her eyes in pain, as she thought of that dreadful day as a cub. So young, but to bear so much pain. She quickly shook her head; she could not be found feeling sad still around the Pridelands. The lioness was infamous among the Pridelanders for having a nasty and tough attitude; no. She could not risk being thought of as weak. Syira shook her slender body and pattered towards a nearby watering hole. She took great laps of water through her dry muzzle; it felt cool to her lips and refreshed her. Her keen ears pricked as she heard sound of hoof beats close by. Just what she needed after a long night: a herd of wild antelope.

The slender lioness’s body crept towards the approaching feet of the antelope. Their mouths were greedily feeding upon the lush grasses of the land; unaware of the stalking predator. Syira’s eyes glanced along at the great herd; what would be a good food choice? As she was looking, she saw an older antelope struggling to keep up with the ongoing herd. What luck! Syira thought smugly. Her paws treaded carefully along the rocky ground, passing by rocks and stepping over twigs and roots. Her nose sniffed the air as she walked along. Syira’s blood tingled as she imagined grasping the wriggling form in her mouth, blood trickling unstoppable in and around her mouth. To her, that sensation was her key ecstasy point; she wished to fulfill this every time she caught her kill. Unfortunately, for Syira, the antelope pricked their ears and ran swiftly away. “Damn!” cursed Syira silently to herself. Not to be outdone, she ran with the herd until her heart was pounding so fast she needed to rest. However, as she was trying to find a place to rest, one of the antelope crushed her body to the ground. Syira gasped as the breath was knocked out of her and the antelope trampled on her limp form. She covered her eyes with her paws attempting to protect her face. After the antelope had left, she lay on the ground for endless minutes; without stirring a bit.

She slowly struggled to pick herself off the ground, but her side was aching painfully. The lioness gave up and dropped to the ground again. The antelope had trampled her side continuously until a gash had been made and her blood flowed freely across the ground. Syira raised her head up just enough to lick her wound. The taste of her own blood tasted foul to her, despite her love for fresh antelope. Wearily, she slumped back to the ground; her energy had fallen. Sleep beckoned her…softly. The thought of dreaming peaceful dreams and just give up was wonderful, but she knew that if she fell asleep she would never wake up.

The two lions fought as they plunged into the water and dive deeper and deeper, finally they passed the forth of no return. Now both of them stopped fighting, and started swimming for the surface. Neither made it. Naki kept on going up, a gash on his leg turning the water blood red. Bardu instead fell, deeper and deeper, unconsciousness claiming him for his own, death would soon follow, and all because of a fight.

Sius perked his ears up. Zera's comforting words had lightened Sius' embarrassment. He was actually rather shocked that she was still talking to him, but, if it ain't broke don't fix it. After Zera helped Sius to his feet, he opened his mouth to say 'thank you', but before he could choke out the words, Zera had already dived into the pool of water.

Why? Sius thought quietly to himself. Did she see something that he didn't? I guess that makes sense... she was here first after all. But what? What was down there that Zera saw that Sius could not? This boggled the mind of the aged lion. Against his will, he dipped his paw into the water. And retracted his leg as quickly as it made contact with the liquid. A worried look occupied his muzzle as memories of his cubhood flooded his mind. He thought about his near drowning experience when he was not but a mere cub. Were it not for his brother, Kasi, Sius' life would have ended at a very early age. Ever since that tragic experience, he had been terrified to set paw, let alone body, into any body of water.

Yet, the worry for himself soon switched to worry for his potential, new-found friend. She had been under for quite some time, and Sius didn't have the aquatic capability to dive in after her. His fear simply wouldn't allow him. After what seemed like hours, finally, relief. Zera surfaced... and she wasn't alone.

Two other lions were present, both of whom seemed unconscious. So that's why her focus was so intent on the water. Sius thought in the back of his mind. But his immediate thought was How is she going to make it back to the shore with that much dead weight? Sius moved toward the water a bit, and then stopped. No matter how hard he tried, he just couldn't bring himself to enter the water. The memories of his face to face chat with death as a cub was just too much to bare. He simply couldn't risk that again.
