Eventually, Vitani and the rest of the fighters came upon the scorched lands, as their determined steps sent spirals of ash into the air. However, it didn't fall back down immediately, as a teasing wind kept the particles hovering. An occasional wince or growl from behind her signalled the inevitable fragments landing in a fighter's eyes.

As the sun climbed higher and higher, the scrawny lioness told her troops to halt, her insecurities returning as they waited,only to be abruptly ended when she heard grumblings from the others.

You better not have lied to me Maswali! she thought bitterly, as her bright blue gaze noticed the gathering clouds on the horizon. Right about where she remembered Pride Rock had been...

Maswali waited among the ashes in the burnt hills. His bloodrage was up, and he was growing impatient. This time gave him leave to think. Why was he fighting? He didn't hate Simba, or anyone really. But this was his pride now, and their goals were his goals. Right?

But what if Maswali had met the Pridelanders first? Would they have attacked him? Perhaps they would have welcomed him...

No. Zira was clear on that. They were murderers who would pay.

Kovu glared at his one time friend. Shari was exactly what Zira had wanted him to become, and because of that, Kovu knew there could be no reconsiliation. "I am not running from anything Shari!", Kovu yelled as he prepared to once more engage his hated foe. His eye were filled with equal parts rage and sorrow as he readied himself to do what he knew must be done. Shari had made it impossible for kovu not to kill him, he had injured a Pridelander, and if kovu did not retaliate, he would likely be banished for treachery.... Simba was not at all understanding about these things.....

Tivana fell to the ground as Shari pulled her down on her leg. Her leg felt as if it was on fire now. She didn't want to cry out and scare Tuva though. Tuva ran over to her and nuzzled Tivana. He knew she was hurt, but she wouldn't show it at all. She looked up at Kovu as the rain started to pour down on them, soaking her to the bone.

"Get him Kovu." She said, smiling.

Kovu heard the words of Tivani and they were like arrows to his heart. There it was, those damning words, yet again he was a tool, a necessary evil in order to save peace and prosperity. His mother had said much the same to him about Simba not two days hence, and now he was aimed in the other direction, the weapon to destroy Shari. The real question was, could he bring himself to kill someone he had shared his entire childhood with? The answer was quite simple, he had to. His life with Kiara had been threatened by Shari, and now he must end that menace once and for all. If only Simba would get here, it would be so much easier if the King could see his actions....

(OK, to save time and effort, let me just sum this up to the best of my abilities. Due to the small mishap that happened yesterday, some of the posts in the RP have been deleted. To sum up what has happened and where the RP is taking off from: Kiara discovered that Kovu had relation to Shari and tried to break free from his hold. Tivana then attacks Shari as rain begins to fall even harder. Shari uses an attack that he learned as a cub after losing a match against Kovu to inflict massive damage upon Tivana's hind leg, hindering her unable to fight back and barely able to move.)

Shari looked down at the headstrong lioness. Though Kiara had broken free from his hold, Shari still had a trick or two up his sleeve. The rain washed away the blood that spilled during the small battle, and the wind blew through Shari's dark mane.

Yes Kovu, get me. Shari egged Kovu on with an attitude similar to Scar's. Do what you were born to do Kovu. You were born to be a killer! He continued. What he was trying to accomplish was nothing more than to prove his superiority to Kovu. And nothing, not even Simba could change his mind now.

"NO!" Kovu cried as he heard the words Shari spoke, "I am not a killer, not like you!" Yet wasn't that just what he had been trained to become since his birth? Killing Simba had been his lifelong goal, and now that was no longer his purpose. What was his purpose? He loved Kiara and his new life, but he didn't know what or who he was. He suspected that what his mother had told him about Scar had been a lie, but he didn't know the truth, even if it was a lie. The only thing he knew was that Tivani was in danger, and Simba wouldn't be kind to him if she died under his watch. Kovu settled in to move Shari away from the stricken lioness....

The tension built. Lightning struck in the distance. A battle was sure to follow. Not just any battle. A battle of destiny. Of fate. The very future of the Pride Lands lay in the outcome of the fight. Though in the past, Shari and Kovu's fights had only ended in pain for themselves. But that was not the case this time. Tivana and Kiara were already injured, and if not careful, Kovu could be next.

Shari's slight smile faded into a look of seriousness. Just answer me this, Kovu He said in a low, gravely tone. His mane was soaked in rain and blood. Upon his leg, he bared the scar that Kovu had delivered so very long ago. The scar that shaped Shari into who he had become. What power in this world made you change your mind? What force could have changed your heart and your soul? Unlike before, Shari was not arrogant after this question. He was grave and serious. He wanted to understand something that was out of his reach. And if Kovu had truly been his friend, then he would answer.

Zira looked upon the horizon. Lo and behold, the Outlanders had arrived. Lead by Vitani, An army of 12 Outsiders had finally arrived. No, 13. Nuka was there too. Zira stood up and walked over to the fighters, smiling fiercely. Well done Vitani, Maswali. She said in a caring whisper. I knew I could count on you two. Zira climbed an elevated rock so that the other lions could see and hear her. In the distance, Zira saw the storm in the Pride Lands brewing. Rain and lightning mercilessly struck the grassy landscape. This was the night.

Alright, listen up! Zira called out loudly. Her voice was commanding and valiant. She had learned it from Scar. Shari could arrive any minute, so be vigilant! Simba will die tonight, as will all Pride Landers who stand in our way! The lionesses roared with vigor and approval. Now that Zira had successfully gotten their adrenaline pumping, all she could do now was wait. she turned to Pride Rock and cautiously watched for any sign of Shari.

Kovu stood in the pouring rain, looking deeply into the eyes of Shari, once his friend. He spoke softly, so that only Shari could hear, "Love." he said, and that was the truth. He had been lost, alone, and forgotten by the light until he had found love, that was what had changed him. It truth, he still cared for Shari, he did not want to lose his friend, and yet the tension was tangible, something he could cut with his claws. His only hope for avoiding a fight to determine the future of the world was Shari understanding that word: love. That was all it took.

Silence. The rain continued to fall. Thunder shook the earth and lightning scarred the land. Wind tore at the trees, trying hard to pry them from their roots. And yet, Shari heard nothing. His eyes widened and his jaw dropped. His claws sheathed and his teeth hidden. He dared not move his eyes from Kovu. For a moment, Shari thought that he had misheard Kovu. But as the scene played over and over in his mind, he knew what he heard... he just didn't want to believe it.

Shari looked down at Tivana and Tuva. Though Tivana still glared angrily at Shari, his attention was focused on Tuva. He nuzzled Tivana closely. What could this be? Shari thought silently. Could this... could this be... Shari didn't blink for even a moment, for the chance of missing a moment of what was happening. love?

His attention shifted to Kiara. The lioness whom he had considered his target not but a few minutes ago. Kovu...? Kiara...? T-together? But... how? He looked back and forth from Kiara's look of disapproval and anger, to Kovu's look of hope and love. At this point, Shari didn't know which look he was more afraid of. Though Kovu had been raised in the shadows, Shari had been raised in Kovu's shadow. Never to be loved. And so, he couldn't understand the true extent of the power of love.

Though Shari wished he could stay quiet, he felt compelled to respond to Kovu. L- He stopped himself. His eyes closed quickly and he looked away. What was he doing? Zira trusted him to complete his mission... but... love...? Could this be what he really wanted? He looked back at Kovu, took a small breath and completed his thought Love? It was one word, but it felt like a monologue on Shari's tongue.
