Nala dyed her toes darker... and managed to do it quickly and unnoticed...

Hmm I was thinking that Kovu's belly was just facing towards the ground so you couldn't see it very well. And it's not like the animators have all the time to check for little details. Be thinking in perspective.

That dye might have irritated her pads though... that's probably not it. Maybe she stepped in mud?
