At the mention of her mother Vitani winced, but she regained her composure and looked him hard in the eyes. "Zira was my mother, and she is dead... the Outlands has a ruler no more, yet I consider it mine since it is where I grew up and I call it home."

Vitani wasn't sure if she liked this lion yet, he seemed demanding and pompous, as if he thought he owned the world. The only thing good about him was that he was slightly attractive. "I don't care where you're going, as long as you don't cause trouble here, I'd like things to remain untouched here as a memory to those I've lost."

"As for my 'pride'," she wrinkled her nose, "they've joined the old King Simba ever since his daughter and my brother Kovu have fallen in love. Not all of them are fully loyal but it's a place to live and there is plenty of food, bunch of lazy cows the lot..."

"Nuka is also dead, taken away in the prime of his life."

She hated thinking about the way he died, Vitani preferred to remember how he was alive, but she told the story for his sake.

"We were on the attack after Simba, he was cornered in a valley where the river used to run and he was up against the wall of logs that served as a dam. Simba started climbing the wall of logs to escape, Kovu was at the top. Mother yelled at him to get Simba since he was closest, but of course Kovu hesitated then ran to who knows where. Then Nuka, always wanting to impress mother so badly, leapt forward and climbed up after Simba to kill him. Nuka just had him too when Simba started an avalanche of logs which crushed my brother and caused his death. He died without ever getting the recognition he deserved..."
