How did Scar die?

Scar + hyneas attacking him + fire = the death of Scar. That sums it all of his death happening. We only see Scar's shadows being brought down to the ground when the fire was around. Fire is a killer.

Really quite simple. Hyena's attacked Scar in a blazing inferno which caused his death,Simba never wanted to kill the lion so the Hyena's did the job for him as the hatred was REALLY high.

Actually, it started raining 2 seconds later, so they couldn't have burned TO DEATH..
