Scar and Kovus scars

Scar and Kovus scars

Postby PrincessKiara » October 13th, 2010, 6:31 pm

Not sure where to put this, so I just place it here.

I`m just curious about something.. Both Scar and Kovu have scars that go directly over their eye. They obtained their injuries in different ways, Kovu was slashed across the face by Zira..

Just wondering: Why aren`t they blind on the eye with the scar? I mean, their scars go all the way down, cutting directly over their eye.. When they both were injured, wouldn`t the eye have been damaged so they lost their vision?

Hm, this is an interesting question, both Scar and Kovu recieved rather deep wounds, but based on the fact that their eyes are set back from their brows I would have to say that the slash could not have gotten that as far as it needed to to blind them.... However, I could be wrong....

Yeh I think the same, contact was only on their brow and cheek bones, because the eye socket is further back, it was unable to get to the eye. And if you look at their scars, you can see that the line of the scar doesn't go over their eyelid, it breaks and then starts again on the cheekbone.

How did they get them in a differen way?
1.) The SNA books are fanfiction - not semi-canon and especailly not the film makers' view of the way Scar got his scar. No one knows how Scar really got his scar.
2.) But come on; it could NOT have come from a freakin' buffalo horn! It is obviously a claw scar!!!! So in the official, film makers' vision he most likely got it exactly the same way as Kovu, as in by somebody's claw. We just haven't been officially told from who.

If I see correctly Kovu was more likely to go blind because Zira clawed him indeed straight across the eye right in through th middle. But Scar's scar is way more back, barely even over the eye really. But still perhaps enough to partially blind him, but I agree with the others above. It's probably the structure of a (Disney) lion eye that saved his eye. I guess it might have saved Kovu's, too.

Relax, at least we can be pretty sure Zira didn`t slash Scar in the face.. But sure, he could have gotten his scar from a lions claw, there is no explanation for this given in the movie.

At least we see Kovu recieve his scar. But I think you`re right, TRP.

Thank you PK, I try to think with reason, the TLK lion's structure provides a defense for this kind of wound, the eyes are set back beneath a brow that guards against these slashes....

I think T.R.P is right... But how do we know they weren't blind in one eye? I mean close one eye right now IRL.... You can still see out of the other one just fine. So you never know, it may well have damaged their vision a bit. I doubt it did though but it's possible.

I doubt they would be blind in one eye without saying it. Disney does everything for a reason.

I tend to believe that Scar and Kovu managed to avoid blindness, in either eye, they still seem to use those eyes and no damage is apparant, even in movies, blindness in one eye lends at least a glaze over that eye.... I could be wrong, but Disney doesn't really imply this blindness
