lol, our teacher told us about this. Nothing's gonna happen in 1012, according to science only something's gonna happen in the Sun so we'll have a major blackout for a few hours.

How could anyone really know for sure? I don't think it'll happen the way the ridiculous film portrays though. In that it wasn't even the end of the WORLD but just the end of the planet Earth. I mean, come on - the world includes also space and everything in it.

I believe in God and generally in the Bible... And it speaks of the Antichrist ruling for seven years prior to the End, rising from "eternal sea" and bearing the number of the beast that is 666, and according to this it should be someone who rose into power in 2005. But who then? What is the eternal sea and how does this person bear the number of the beast? No one can know until it is revealed. And if I've understood correctly the basic idea is that the Judgment Day comes when God thinks the man kind has gone too bad in this world, and well, I wouldn't be too surprised if that time was near.

I'm personally somewhat buzzled with some stuff in Christianity and the Bible and don't know which way to turn and what am I expected to believe in God's eyes, and am just hoping I'm doing the right thing. All I'm 100% certain of in my belief as in which has never truly wavered since I found my religion some years ago, is that there is God, Jesus was His son and all of our past, then-current and future sins were forgiven by his death and that he was brought on this Earth for that purpose. So I don't know where do I stand in the being saved scenario in the end, but...

...I certainly hope these are not the Last Days. I love this world and I want to live my life. The annoucned possibility of it ending this soon bothers me enough so that I can't get a true peece of mind until that date is past or the world has ended. -.-

No, it wont end. I read that they ended their calender because they moved to a new calander system and not because the world was going to end. No matter if that's true or not, the world will no end either way. Nothing to worry about. ^_^

And come on, the end of electricity would not mean the end of us. People before us survived just fine without electricity. There's absolutly nothing to worry about. If I'm proven wrong, it will be in 100,000,000,000 years or more...

To answer the question posed in the title quite literally: yes.

But will it happen in 2012? No. Will it even happen in the next 100 million years? Doubtful.
