Personality: Shy, withdrawn, very negative and slightly fearful.
Description: Dark gray-brown fur, lighter gray-brown muzzle, underbelly, toes, slightly upturned hair tuft with very dark brown tips, pridelander muzzle, black outlander nose, dark brown upper eyeshade, light gray-brown under eyeshade, orange/amber eyes, black ear rims as a cub, very dark brown tail/elbow tufts (and mane as an adult), fur gets darker as an adult.
Other: Mrithi is the grandson of Kiara and Kovu.
History: Mrithi was born as a result of a forced mating between queen Upendi and the blind lion, Mosi. He was conceived solely because his mother wanted to secure herself in heir, in case her throne was ever taken from her. From the day he was born, Mrithi was never allowed to leave Pride Rock--never allowed to socialize with the other lionesses or his father. His mother never showed him love: she instead would constantly drill him and train him to be king. So much so, that Mrithi developed a hatred for his royal blood, and swore he would never be king if this is what it was like. His only silver lining in all this was his grandmother, Kiara, who took it upon herself to show the young cub the affection he didn't receive from his mother. After losing her son and then mate, Mrithi brought a little light back into Kiara's life.
When Kuwasha (KiaraxKovu's son) came back to the pridelands as an adult (with his previously banished cousin, Kivuli) Mrithi's sheltered life suddenly changed. His uncle urged him to step beyond the boundaries of Pride Rock, and Kivuli even introduced him to his younger sister, Safi. Safi had also been living a restricted life, but she wasn't allowed to go near/speak to the royal family, and was constantly guarded by her older sister, Faragha. Mrithi is very shy and slightly afraid of Safi's forward personality, but soon the two realize they have similar lifestyles, and thus, something in common. Eventually, Safi introduces him to her cheetah friend, Haramu, and the three become best of friends. Safi and Haramu are also the only cubs Mrithi's age in the Pridelands. Playing is a new-ish concept to Mrithi (he's played with his grandma before, but never with other cubs) and he's a little hesitant at first. However, Safi and Haramu soon coax out his long-repressed childishness, and slowly but surely, Mrithi begins to come out of his shell. When they reach teenhood, and Safi ventures out to find her father, Mrithi and Haramu go with her....
The one lion he remains at odds with is his mother, Upendi. Though Kuwasha's return slowly crumbled the wall around her heart, Mrithi still can't forget his awful childhood, nor can Upendi forgive herself for the way she's treated him. Slowly, however, Upendi tries to build herself back up in her son's eyes: first and formost by introducing him to his father, Mosi, who still lives in the Pridelands. Mrithi is both afraid and thrilled to meet him, but Mosi welcomes him with open paws and teary eyes.
