ANOTHER ONE OF WS'S SUGGESTIONS *waits for the groans*

Hi! Welcome to the Feedback forum.
Before reading anything or asking anything; please check out the FAQs. Your question might be in there. However if you want a better understanding after reading the FAQs, like if it didn't explain it good enough, then by all means ask your question.

Please read the following before posting in this forum...

In this forum you will see an Announcement, and several "sticky" topics. The announcement is the Universal Board Rules. If you are new, read this before doing anything else! The sticky topics will stay above and separated from normal user-made topics in the forum. This is because they outline important information about the board. If you see a sticky topic concerning your issue, please reply with your question or concern in the correct topic. Moderators will see your reply within these topics. Before asking your question, be sure to read the topic and its first page especially. It contains information about your issue that is valuable and may even answer your questions. If the topic does not answer your question, ask your question within the topic, not the forum. If no sticky topic concerns your issue, then you are welcome to ask your own questions by creating a new topic within the forum.

Thank you for keeping the Board Help forum organized!

If they cared enough about the forum they wouldn't just drop off the face of the forum like that. If someone's leaving, people notice long before the topic is even made. It's just needless drama too have the topics being posted every two seconds because someone is saying their leaving forever, then coming back 10 minutes later.

As I stated in the first post it'd be different if their on vacation, but when their doing these leaving forever topics, their typically not making them for their friends, their making it so that people would make a big deal over them leaving.
sorry for the double post but i just saw this, and i do feel that if someone is saying they are leaving forever they should not be allowed to come back well at least for a set time period, and if they wish to return i feel they should speak to moka and the current mods at the time of them wishing to return,

I just want to suggest a new more specific rule to say something against all these leaving topics popping up. I don't see a problem with the "I'm going on vacation" ones specifically, but I think the ones where their like "I'm leaving forever, goodbye", are just needless spam. They obviously don't care about the forum/what they think/know if their leaving forever, because they wouldn't be leaving if otherwise.

Quite a few of the leaving forever ones have popped up recently, and it's getting extremely annoying. Particulary in the den.
you see i understand where you're coming from WS and i do think that it is annoying to see people leave but on the other side of the coin
I guess people should just fall off the face of the earth and never let their friends know they're leaving then. They had better hope they have some sort of IM client or Facebook or something or else I guess no one'll know what happened to them!
I would hate to not know people are leaving if i were friends with them, i do believe however that you don't see that some people might really care what certain members do have to say about them leaving. i do think that the latest was a little much but that specific person was really only here to promote something else...

In my honest opinion i think there should be a goodbye or a "Vacation" section of the forum where people could post if their leaving whether it be indefinitely or just for a short break... and in these forums you should only stop and look at the people who you actually care about and not even "feed" the trolls or the people that you know are going to start an argument with you if you post what you really feel
but that's just me...
That wouldn't be that bad idea, because maybe it'll be a little less spammy. But in the long run, if a persons/troll/spammer is going to leave, then they aren't going to care how bad the leaving topic is, as long as they get their last word in and cause some drama.

Now, I know I've seen people get offended in the chatroom once because someone pointed out something their doing wrong, and 2 seconds they post a topic about how their leaving forever. Should these type of characters really be allowed just to spam up the den with their pretty much meaningless goodbye post.

It's kind of different with people like KM's topics where he actually put a lot of thought into his departure from the forum, and left contact info. But some of these topics literally just say stuff like "bye bye mlk," with the people returning a day later. Even if they don't come back, the topic should still not be allowed there.

I know I might just be being mean here, but these topics really aren't necissary, and if there's ways to contact them, their friends would most likely already be aware, and there's nothing wrong with having it in their profile, or asking another member for the info.

WS that's why i think that it should be in the decision of the moderators and moka as to if and when a person is allowed to return after causing said drama in a good bye post

Right. If anything it would need to be on a case by case basis. You can't really just take away the right of everyone being able to say goodbye because a few people might have abused it. So you gotta take 'em one at a time.

Mods deal with spam. Certain leaving threads are considered "spam." If you see "spam" that the mods aren't taking care of, you're free to use the report button. This thread has more potential for drama than the vast majority of the leaving threads you're discussing.

I think you have taken it a bit far in saying that leaving topics would not be allowed. Regretably, I have made one in the past and ended up returning which at the time I didn't know was going to happen (sue me), so I may be slightly biased in saying this.
Nine times out of ten, people just leave a quick goodbye message and be done with it. I think the welcome section should just be merged with a leaving / vacation section and leave it at that, if anything.

Also...
If someone's leaving, people notice long before the topic is even made
I had no idea KiarasMate, SimbasMate, Ruko or SimbaCub were leaving when they made their topics. Don't really see where you're going with that one.
How can you be fine with people announcing a holiday, but not announcing a perma leave? If anything, i'd be inclined to say the oppostie.

Furthermore, it breaches the whole freedom of speach concept that comes with a forum. You can post anything in the den that doesn't fit anywhere else, but not leaving topics cause they're annoying? Riiigggghhhttt.
There is one simple solotion to all of this: people just simply need to stop being dramakings/queens in the posts, and perhaps put [holiday] or [leave] in the thread title to help distinguish them.

I'm both ways in this one. I think that people making topics about themselves leaving or whatever is kinda annoying, but it's not like they should be blocked, and you can ignore them.
