Adult Simba has dark ear rims

Adult Simba has dark ear rims

Or, at least, sometimes :P

In the scene where Rafiki finds Simba in the savannah, you can, if you look carefully, see that Simba still has his ear markings.

Hi-res
This shot is where it is most blatantly obvious.

You can discern them here too.

They are obviously intentional or they wouldn't have appeared in more than one shot, but what do you reckon? Colouring error or not?

It's shading. Sarabi, Kovu and Vitani's ear rims go all the way to the top, and they are much darker than that.

Shading lol. They should have made it more obvious that it's shading and not ear rims..

Looks too dark to be shading to me :-?

Colouring error seems to be the answer anyway :P

I think it looks more like shading, but I'm not too sure. Possibly a colouring mistake.

If they are definitely shadows, they are in the wrong place - for shadows to appear like that on the ear the light would have to come from another angle than above.

To be properly placed on a TLK lion, they would be at the top of the ear.

Like so.

But anyway, I yield :P Guess the shading artists got it wrong.

It's just the shadow, being the fact that it was dark outside.

Yeah, I guess you're right. I've been wondering for years whether they are ear rims or shadows...

well in this picture if you slightly look at his ear, there is a bit of shadow where the supposed "ear rim" ends. http://www.mylionking.com/resources/sit ... ab_690.jpg
