Simba - Having Trouble Keeping Promises?

As a cub, he was very adventurous. Sometimes, you just want to explore all on your own and go to mysterious places (even if u can't). Even though that he was told not to go to the elephant graveyard, he went anyway and took Nala. Later, Mufasa tells him that he delibertly disobeyed him. Simba didn't mean to disobey his father but it his adventurous personality that made him go.

In SP, Kiara asks Simba if he will let her do her solo hunt on her own. Simba was hesitating because he didn't know what to say and Nala gave him a playful warning look to make sure he says yes. He then promises but sends Timon and Pumbaa to watch her again since he didn't want anything bad happening to her. Later, Kiara got mad at him for a second, claiming about him breaking he promise and he says to her "It's a good thing I did. I almost lost you. No More hunts for you! Not Ever!"

I would say that 50% percent of Simba's promises that he broke were just making mistakes, while his other half were because he had no other choice.

i think that Simba was young when he broke those promises and i bet in retrospect he wouldn't have broken half of them seeing as it would've kept his father alive.

On the other hand

Simba does lie to Kiara and send timon and pumbaa to watch her (not exactly sure what good that would do...) none the less he still broke his word to his daughter,

overall i think Simba breaks his word to look out for the people he cares about if you're talking about when he's older, when he's younger he's just being a brat and trying to be defiant. to his parents, and when he gets caught he tries to make up excuses. (sorry but thats my honest opinion..)

Simba may have a problem with promises, but he does have the best intentions. Simba only lies to protect others. If you wanna play devil's advocate, you can say: (as they say, "The road to hell is paved with good intentions.")
You've got a point, but it seemed that most of this behavior took place when he was still just a cub. And the lie he told to Kiara when he was an adult (and I suppose he also sort of lied to Nala, since it seemed to me he tried to keep his speaking to Timon and Pumbaa secret from her as well) was, as you said, what he thought was for the best. Though, even that took place while he was still young. I guess it's to be expected that while Simba is still young, he wouldn't have the same ability to keep promises like Mufasa did, partially because I think it was probably a skill for Mufasa to be able to keep all of his promises and still get everything done the way he wanted; only making promises he could keep, you might say. Perhaps that's Simba's area of weakness.

You have an excellent point. I think Simba's lack of 'promise-keeping' skill plays an important part in the movie, though I'm not really sure exactly what yet... perhaps just his relative immaturity.
This ^^
Simba lies a lot, lol.
