Wasn't the world supposed to end in 2000? Which obviously never happened?

That (if I am not mistaken) was one person's prediction which had enough followers to get a small percentage of people talking. At least the theory behind 2012 actually has some degree of legitamacy to it.
And since you're asking, no the world will not end in 2012.

Yea I don't think it will end in 2012, I have heard and seen TV shows on the whole Mayan calender thing and it just seems like they either ran our of room or got tired of continuing it. And besides even if the world does end I hope MLK will stil be around

Honestly, I find all these doomsday "prophecies" just plain funny now. First there was 2000, then there were a few other, less-publicised ones throughout the decade that escape me, and now this.

The Mayan calander is just a human invention...and human inventions have a tendency to have flaws in them in some way. The Mayan calander not looking beyond December 2012 (technically it can go beyond that, but that's beside the point...) is nothing more than a flaw in their date system, and does not predict our impending doom.

And if it does, I'll gladly admit I was wrong in whatever afterlife awaits to anyone and anything that says I said it wouldn't happen!

But I'm starting to have a rant of sorts, so I'll stop now. See you all in 2013!

Yea, from what I've learned, the world has only been around for, well, 2010 years. But it's said that it will end when it's 2,000,000 years old. But we all with be dead by then, unless some of us are immortal, but I doubt it

Although I think all these prophecies and theories are very interesting, I personally don`t believe that the world will end in 2012.
I don`t think anything will happen, really...
Our world/planet has existed for millions and millions of years, it`s not suddenly gonna end in two years.
