That fact aside it is a pleasure to be here! My name is Kumari and my char is a leopard (a very generic one at that). I'm what you'll all think of as an old hand in the Lion King fandom. I've been around in various places since the Summer of 1998. I started out in the chat room at lionking.org and made a ton of friends, some of whom I know in real life and am good friends with.
I started out as a more recognizable (and not very original) character way back when. I was Zazu...then Mufasa for while. One day while sitting at work waiting for the frame relay to catch up with me (my company really burned up the fiber in the late 90's) decided I needed to be more "original". So I began a quest for a new character. Kumari was the name that popped into my head at lunch that day and so I decided to use it. I thought it sounded great and had no meaning whatsoever. Within a few days of changing it on my ICQ account I was getting friend requests from random Indian men. Come to find out it DOES have a meaning...something akin to "Princess". I decided "Oh well!" and kept the name.
TLK has definitely taken me places. In 1999 I traveled to New York City with a buddy from the lionking.org chat room to see TLKoB (3rd row orchestra, center stage) which can only be described as breathtaking. I've visited other fans in Indiana and Wisconsin.
I don't know why the Lion King connected with me the way it did. Guess I thought it was a great movie with great characters and great music. I'm a sucker for that kinda thing.
Currently I'm a 31 year old(told you I was an old hand) underemployed IT Support Specialist working fast food in a small town in Southwest Ohio. I also operate a side business that provides end user support to both residential and small business clients. I'm hoping over the next couple of years to grow the business and make it my sole source of income. In real life I go be Rob/Computer Guy/Hey You! I will answer to just about anyhting. You could go "Hey Kuamri!" out loud and I'd answer you.
I'm also a huge theatre and music nerd. I've done volunteer work as a Front of House PA Engineer for a local production of "Godspell" and currently I'm the FOH PA/Foldback engineer for a local rock band.
That's all for now. If there's anything you'd like to know, ask away. I don't bite
