Banzai isnt swhaili either. It could be Japanese :P
actually, there's a thing in the TLK6NA books that tells you the meanings of the characters' names at the front of the book. I'll check and see what language it's supposed to be.

yeah, you'd think the chars would know Swahili themselves and that they wouldn't name their son trash if they loved him just as equally as Mufasa. I'll get back to y'all on Banzai's name...I was wrapped up in World History and C++ homework and the awfulest hold up at the checkout of a store yesterday

well actually, Ahadi (Mufasa and Taka/Scars dad) didn’t like Scar that much. in many theory’s he gave Taka his scar and some even tell us about the bad parent he was. i personally don’t think Ahadi was bad. he just had a bad temper.

he is described as a Gold lion with scar like hair, and maybe he faved Mufasa because of his golden looks.

in the TLK6NA books, Taka got his Scar when cape buffalos attacked him in his attempt to make Mufasa look bad so Ahadi would rethink who should be heir. Ahadi and Uru loved them both, it was just Ahadi spent so much more time with Mufasa trying to prepare him to be the next king. and he and Taka didn't get along because Ahadi often had to break promises to him when he would have to take care of important business and Taka had some teen angst about it.

lol! well, there are fan-prides that have preferences to a certain fur color or that don't like hybrids, etc. but I don't think Disney was aiming for a racist lion. maybe self-absorbed in that case?

No, no it isn't. "Banzai" is very much Swahili, and means 'to skulk' or 'to lurk'. Bonsai (with an s, not a z) is the art of miniature tree care, and is a Japanese word and pastime.

As far as Scar's name goes, I certainly like "Scar" better. It suits him better than Taka. :confident:

yeah, I thought that was what it meant. but I checked the Kamusi Project, and it doesn't. and that's probably the most accurate Swahili translator site I've found, they even have rarely used words and dialect variations.

but I'm looking at the Tale of Two Brothers book right now, and it doesn't have Bonzai in the Swahili words at the front. it has Shenzi and the other Swahili-named characters. and it has Taka was "want", "rubbish". so in the case that it means want, that suits him very well. but in most cases it's trash.
