Simba was stunned, turning towards Tanga, who nodded to confirm Nala's story. "I...you've had a rough time of it, then, huh?" he said, before sighing as Tanga nodded again. "I'm sorry, I shouldn't have asked."

Tanga shook his head dismissely, giving Nala an appreciative glance for avoiding the touchy subject of Kulinda's death. "It's fine...and it seems that the more lions that know what happened, the easier it is to deal with, so you've actually helped me a little." He then decided to ask Simba something. "So...what are you going to do now?" he asked, regretting it when he saw Simba wince at some internal pain his question had triggered.

Before he could apologise though, Simba spoke up. "I...I want to go back. Even if the pride won't accept me, I at least want to help stop Scar from sending the pride to it's death. But..." at this point, he stalled, worried over how Nala would react to the news of Bardu's threats against his family, especially since she seemed to be somewhat protective of him. In the end, he could not explain himself properly. "But...Bardu...Sarabi..."

Tanga adopted a confused frown at Simba's words, turning to Nala to see if she understood the meaning behind them.

"Simba.... are you sure? Nala asked suddenly, "Everyone thinks your dead, and.... and... you wouldn't want to hurt anyone? would you? she said quickly and defensively. to everyone else, she might be trying to dissuade Simba from returning, but she really knew, if he returned, what he found out, would kill him.

Simba nodded. "And that's exactly the problem," he said sadly. But how would Nala react to this? "Bardu..." he sighed, then finally ploughed on. "I get the feeling you're not going to believe this, Nala...but Bardu...Bardu threatened to kill Sarabi if I ever tried to go back. That's why I was fighting him just now."

----------

Even though it was Simba that had spoken, Tanga kept his gaze focused on Nala, although he did glance at Simba for brief moments. "Nala?" he finally asked. "E...exactly who is this Bardu?" He had seen the way Nala had stepped in to defend the black lion, but as he had left, Tanga had seen something in his body stance...and those red eyes...that he didn't like. Because of this, Tanga was inclined to believe Simba's story, and reason behind him ifghting the lion. But Tanga wanted to know why Nala was defensive of him before proceeding with his suspicions.

Trying to back away from the inevitable question. She looked nervous and she began to pant quite heavily. "Why... Why would Bardu say something like that; he knows he couldn't" Nala said defensivally after hearing Simbas statement. She began to get even more nervous, even starting to paw the ground, with nerves. Hoping Tanga woulden't ask the same question, she looked at his face.

That's when Tanga asked her the question, and she knew that she couldn't keep a lie from him. She then became even more nervous, pawing the ground again, she let her ears droop, and she seemed to shrink, "I'm sorry, Tanga, Simba, but... Bardu is my son"

In that moment it was hard to tell who was more stunned; Simba or Tanga. Both were staring at Nala in open-mawed shock. In the end, Simba was the first to recover, as his expression went from shock to horrified. "But there's no-one back home who could have...oh, no! Nala...please, tell me he didn't...?" Simba could not bear to finish the question, even if his tone made it obvious.

Simba knew that, with Mufasa dead, and himself in exile, Scar was the only male left over in the pride. And Simba knew that, where Nala was concerned, she would never have let him get that far with her willingly. Theories chased each other in his mind, and he was repulsed by what picture was starting to form about what had happened, and how Nala could possibly have beared a cub.

----------

Tanga was still slack-jawed, even as Simba spoke. Eventually, he tried to speak, but his meaned only seemed to be able to process one syllable at a time. "But...how...who?" was all he could end up saying. He could hear Simba's words, and the tone behind them, and suddenly his mind also started putting the pieces slowly together. But his nature forced him to wait, forced him to let Nala explain herself before he jumped to conclusions.

Nala was on the verge of tears, and Simbas expression said everything she needed to know. But she had to answer both questions in the least painful way. "I'm sorry Simba, it was him." she said turning to face Tanga, "y king, is evil.... he took over after Simba left and his father died, when i was old enough to bare cubs, he had some of his Hyenas trap me, and pin me down so i couldn't run. He raped me and threatened he'd kill Sarabi and my mother if i left or didn't care for the cub. I'm sorry Tanga..." she said as she gave him a nuzzle.

After a moment, she turned away and looked deep into the jungle. "Bardu!" she called out, hoping he would come. Tears now freely rolling from her eyes

----

After washing himself off, and cleaning some of the wounds Simba had caused. He was about to take a drink when he heard his mother calling him. Knowing he had to do as he was told, he went back to where he left them. Seeing his mother was crying, he ran forwards at full speed, and jumped out of the jungle, at a shout he said "Who made her cry?!" the shout was complimented by a growl, as he moved to his mothers side to comfort her

Tanga actually gasped in horror at Nala's story. He had been treated horribly in his time, but the thought of a lion actually doing smething so foul and invasive was almost beyond his comprehension, as he struggled not to heave his last meal out onto the grass in front of him. As she nuzzled him, he nuzzled her right back, rubbing his head against her neck. "There's nothing to be sorry for, Nala...it's this king who has everything to be sorry for." There was no doubt, in his mind now, that he needed to go back and help Nala, no matter what. This king was now confirmed in Tanga's mind as a vile, pitiful excuse for a lion who needed to be overthrown as soon as realistically possible.

But Tanga's thoughts were interrupted as Bardu arrived, shouting at them, causing Tanga to back off slightly at the black lion's threatening presence. With his own small size, and what he had seen of Bardu and Simba's fight, Tanga knew he did not want to cross this lion, although Simba made it sound like he was not a pleasant one, especially if he threatened this Sarabi to try and keep Simba away.

----------

Simba was more angry than horrified at Nala's statement. "What could possibly have happened to Scar to make him be like this?" he wondered aloud, a slight venom in his voice. He had always remembered Scar as a cool, if slightly creepy and wierd, uncle. Since when was such a sadistic creep who would take advantage of a young lioness like that.

His stance became more defensive as Bardu arrived on the scene, causing Tanga to back away from Nala, obviously frightened by the black lion's menacing presence. but if this was Nala's son, he would try to get along with him in some way...if he could be convinced to stop his mad taunting and threats against him and his family. "This is no-one's fault, Bardu," he said as evenly as he could. "Harsh memories always upset us, and I'm afraid it's been a rough night for everyone, really."

"Bardu, it's fine, i was just thinking about my past" she said, stopping crying. Bardu wasn't convinced, but he put his faith in Nala, his mother, and decided to play along. "Simba, it was Zira, she ate him up and spat him out, then ran off with a rouge. Scar went berserk and started attacking us, he even tried to make Sarabi queen, and Sarafina his slave." she said, "Thats why I couldn't leave before now, but now Bardu can take care for himself, so I could go and find help. Scar thinks me and Bardu just wanted a few days away, thats when I lost him, and thought he'd gone back. I stayed to find help"

She turned back to Bardu, and then to Tanga. "Tanga, meet your son" she said as she turned to Bardu. "Bardu, Meet your new father" She said, as Bardu turned to Tanga, on the way he gave Nala a sly wink, who knew exactly what he meant, "This Weakling, Ill Kill Him" Nala acted stunned, and shouted out "Bardu! Stop!", A growl emanated from her throat, but Bardu cut it off. He isn't Worthy of you, Not if he cant beat me!" he growled, unsheathing his claws, as Nala shot Simba a glance saying "Stay Away, This Is All Under Control"

Simba just watched on in horror as Bardu turned viciously hostile towards Tanga, obviously on the verge of attacking. Looking to Nala, he caught her look telling him everything was under control, but that just left him even more confused. Why was Nala letting this happen? But he also caught the sense that if he tried to intervene, that Nala would stop him, and as such, forced himself to sit down, although his claws did slid a small way out of his paws as a reflex to a hostile situation in front of him...he just hoped Nala knew what she was doing.

----------

Tanga took a few steps back, confused at the sudden, dangerous shift in events. "What do you...what are you talking about?" he asked nervously, even if he already had a hunch. Bardu was not seeing past his small stature and shy, submissive nature, and believed that he was too weak to be with Nala. Tanga almost believed it himself, but if he admitted that, then Bardu would simply chase him off, and Tanga did not want to leave Nala.

But he did not want to fight, either...even though, on instinct, his claws were already drawn, ready to defend himself if necessarry, as he tried to calm Bardu down. "Look, Bardu, you don't have to do this," he said nervously, keeping his stand wide and low. His years of bullying had left him with a fair knowledge of fighting, and how to use his small stature to its fullest, and those instincts were starting to kick in. "Can we just talk for a minute...I don't want to fight."

Nala turned and mouthed the words Calm down, You'll see how this turns out complimented by a sly wink as she turned back to the scene in front of her. "Bardu, I'm Commanding you. Stop! Nala hissed at her son, but he payed no attention, he had a job to do, and this is what he loved to do best. No Mother, if He is to be my father, then he should be strong, not like the weak, frail, stupid, idiotic and senseless lion he appears to be. He is not worthy of your love. Bardu hissed, as he moved ever closer to Tanga.

"So whats it to be? Are you a Lion or a Leopard? Are you going to fight me? Or, Run like a coward? he snarled, looking Tanga in the eye, his blood red eyes filled with lust for a fight. Just to add even more reason for Tanga to fight, Bardu used one of the oldest provoker tricks in the book, he shouted over his shoulder, "Mother, why didn't you go with that lion over there, he's Stronger, bigger and better looking, not like this piece of dirt." he said angrily as he complemented the statement, by spitting on Tangas face
