Tanga still was not convinced. "Nala's a friend, and look at her," he countered sadly, remembering the harsh glares she kept throwing. "Or was, at least..." He looked down at his paws, once more reminded of the killing monster he believed he was becoming. "Why? Why did this happen? Simba's been through enough already, he doesn't deserve this!" Once again, he found himself slashing at the tall grass, venting his emotions as his anger at the injustice of the situation for his friend flared up once more.

Tanga still didn't seem to believe her, and that made Marini even more eager on convincing him that was true. "He'll be okay Tanga, stop blaming yourself for this." she begged, "You couldn't know this would happen."

Tanga stopped, looking at her, all his self-loathing, guilt, shame, and sadness clear for her to see. "No...but it still happened, and that's all that matters. It happened, and I'm the one responsible...and I hate it!" he finally yelled. "I want to turn it back! I want to go back and stop it! But I can't, and now Simba's in so much pain because of what I've done!"

"On accident!" Marini said, she didn't mean to give up unill he understood he shouldn't feel this guilt about this, "You didn't mean for this to happen did you?" she asked, even though she knew Tanga would say no, she wanted him to say it.

Tanga began to calm down as Marini asked him the question. "No..." he said in a small voice, part of him expecting her to turn around and call him a liar.

Noticng Tanga calm down slightly, Marini took a huge risk by slowly taking a step closer to him, Then THAT's what matters." she said, looking at him to show that she was serious

Tanga backed away rapidly as Marini took a step forward, speaking forcefully to him. Once he processed the words, and realised what she was saying, he spoke up himself. "But..." he said lamely, faltering even as he started. He was running out of options to argue with. Marini had taken his guilt and shoved it all aside.

His mind could not stop putting up one last, pained argument, though. "But...Nala...and Sarabi..." he said weakly, his head hanging. "They were so...the way they looked at me...I've never seen them look so angry before..."

Marini couldn't know whether Sarabi and Nala will ever be the same with him again, especially Sarabi, but she couldn't stop now. "They need some time for today's accident to sink in, I'm sure they'll move on soon."

At this point, the last of Tanga's arguments haded away to nothing, he looked up, and looked at Marini as if he was seeing her for the first tiem since he came here.

He took a moment to process everything he had said and done, and looked at Marini in horror. She had come to him, and tried to help him, and all he had don was argue and yell at her for most of it. "Rini..." he said cautiously, taking a step closer to her. "I...I'm sorry...I just...I just realised what I did just now...I yelled at you, and you were only trying to help...I just..."

Marini was relieve that Tanga finally calmed down at long last, and spoke up again, "It's fine, really." she said, hoping this wasn't the beginning of another wave of guilt
