"That sounds like and excellent idea." the wheat colored lioness purred. She lifted her nose into the air and took a deep breath. The scent was definitely zebra. Her mouth started watering. Zebra was her second favorite meal, her first being okapi. But that was an extremely rare meal, as she had only ever had it once, and had never seen the strange creature again.
However, Ashiki was hungry, and so was the rest of the pride. She pushed herself up onto her back legs and stood, trying to catch a glimpse of the herd. She spotted them downwind. "Perfect." she thought as her weight fell back towards the earth. "So, Kichaa. I am thinking you should hide in the grass, since you seem more equipped for the kill." she said quickly. The younger lioness was slightly bigger than her, and so she would be able to take down the zebra much easier than she could have. "I think I saw a rather fat one with a limp. So he will be our goal."
Finishing her sentence, Ashiki quietly padded off into the grass, heading around the herd. She kept her body low, and her pawsteps eventually became silent. She almost disappeared from view since her pelt was the same color as the surrounding grass.
Within minutes, she was opposite Kichaa upwind from the heard. She knew one of them was bound to catch her scent, and so with a quick movement, she leaped from the grass, roaring loudly.
The zebra herd spooked. The sound of dozens of hooves bearing down on the earth echoed throughout the valley. The striped horses screamed, adding to the noise of the stampede.
Ashiki ran with them, separating three zebras from the main herd by cutting off their turn. The stranded zebras fled in the direction of Kichaa. The lame zebra in the middle of the group. Ashiki continued to chase them closer and closer to the trap. Now, all she had to do was wait for Kichaa to spring.
