Personality: As a cub he is a very nasty individual, and relentlessly torments his cousin, Kuwasha. He is also very ignorant, full of himself, and likes to dare his cousins and sister into doing outlandish--and often dangerous--things. After Upendi (Kuwasha's sister) scars him permanently across his face, the full-sting of his behavior begins to sink in, and by the time he reaches adulthood, he is a humble, brooding and regrettful individual.
Description: Vitani's orange-gold fur, with gray green eyes, a black pridelander nose, red brown eye rims, a dark head and tail tuft (head tuft flows back behind his head, instead of flopping forward like Kovu and Kopa's) ear 'stripes' like Zira (also reddish brown) orange-brown inner ears.
Other: He is Vitani's eldest and only son. He bullies his cousin Kuwasha and challenges his other cousin, Upendi consistantly. Also dislikes his elder cousin, Viza, largely due to the fact that Viza often stands up/protects Kuwasha in his own snarky way. However, underneath that cocky exterior lies jealousy towards his cousin: Kivuli--much like Nuka--believes himself to be a better choice as king, but he knows that that will never happen, and it irritates him to no end. It ALSO leads to his accidental pushing Kuwasha over the edge, leading the younger cub to run away. This, in turn, causes Kovu to exile Kivuli,even though he is still a cub.
History: Kivuli is born to Vitani and Jasiri (whom he's never met) and has a slightly younger sister, Faragha. He prefers to spend time hanging with his sister, Mosi (Scruffy's son) and occasionally Upendi, even though Kuwasha and Adaeze (Scruffy's daughter) often tag along. Kivuli had a problem with Kuwasha from day one, which stemmed from jealousy of Kovu. Kivuli never knew his father, and though he does appreciate his mother, wishes he HAD known him. This sparks the meanness in him, and as he grew older, he found more excuses and ways to pick on his cousin. Whether he knew he was one main reason his cousin was so insecure or not is debatable--if he did, he certainly didn't care. Eventually, Kivuli takes things too far, and distresses Kuwasha to the point where he runs away from the Pridelands. Upendi (Kuwasha's sister) hears her brother's cries, but by the time she gets there, he's gone. Panicked and furious, she lashes out at Kivuli, hitting him hard enough to leave four large gashes in the side of his face. Kovu--who'd been patrolling the Pridelands, happens to catch his daughter as she strikes Kivuli. Furious though he is, he soon learns what happened, and immediately tells Upendi to tell Kiara and Vitani what happened, and to get a search party together. He goes off and tries to find his son, as do the other pridesisters (and Viza) but as it grows darker, their hopes of finding the young prince diminish quickly. Pained and furious, Kovu demands that Kivuli accompany his cousin(Viza is at the age to start his own pride) as a sort of exile, since Kivuli is young and can't be left on his own. Vitani of course is appalled by this declaration, but Kovu refuses to change his mind--Kivuli has been a problem all his life, and this was the last straw. As soon as his wounds are healed, he must leave. And he does--now with four scars across his face and only one eye. However, he also suffers from invisible scars: the shock of his 'world' crashing down on him (his cousin actually leaving, his other cousin attacking him, his aunt, Simba, Nala and many of the others looking at him with hate in their eyes, his mother angry and upset, and Kovu just about ready to kill him) truly shocks him. As he grows up, the scars never truly heal, but Kivuli realizes his errors, and becomes a very regretful lion, who looks back on his past with shame. When he's of age, he decides to wander off on his own, not to start his own pride: he just wants to be a rogue. After a while (when he becomes an adult) Kivuli stumbles upon Afua's pride, and with it, he comes face to face with an alive, adult Kuwasha. He is both relieved, shocked, and a little scared to see his cousin again, but Kuwasha has grown too, and invites Kivuli to share a meal with his family and pride sisters. Kivuli appologizes, and Kuwasha reveals he has no real anger towards Kivuli anymore, and even forgives him. Then a thought strikes him: Kuwasha is alive--surely his family should learn of this! He proposes the idea of returning to the Pridelands: even though Kuwasha has made it clear he does not want to be king and is happy where he is. They decide on a temporary trip--a reunion. Kivuli travels with Kuwasha and his family, only to find the Pridelands/Pride Rock a much darker and bitter place than it was in their youth. Kovu is dead, Upendi has become a distant and hard ruler, Faragha is a coniving and snarky adult and his mother has grown to hate her family. However....when the two return to the Pridelands--now friends and both alive--everything comes to a halt. The wave of ice begins to melt, and Kivuli sees his mother and sister smile again; an image he'd missed. He also meets his new little sister, Safi.
