It's a vague way for Scar to tell the hyenas that, unless they follow his lead, accept him as king of the Pridelands, that they will never get the food, water, and comfort the Pridelands holds...that if they abandon his plan, they will continue to starve in the Elephant Graveyard...forever below the lions.

At least that's my interpretation of it.

As you know, the Hyehnas are usually hungry and wanting food. The quote means that, much less than eating, they will not even get a sniff of food :]. That's why I like the song, it's like a conversation between the Hyehnas and Scar, but just sung instead lol.

Remember how Scar brought the Hyenas food after their (failed) attempt to kill cub Nala and cub Simba?
For them, that was just a small preview of how much food they’d get if Scar was king and they were all living in the Pride Lands.

Scar also says "Stick with me, and you’ll never go hungry again!" This implies that Scar was promising the Hyenas a chance to lead a very comfortable life if they’d only help Scar rule the Pride Lands.

But if they wouldn’t help him, they wouldn’t "get a sniff." As in, they’d have no food. So for the Hyenas, Scar means a source of food.. (and he did become one in the end)

I like the symbolism there. Yes, that's very true.

It means that the hyenas would basically get no food or anything at all without Scar/if they didn't follow him.
