Scar couldn't be her father, because on TLKoB he tried to make her his wife.
Maybe he didn't know that Nala was actually her daughter? Or maybe he was THAT mad to make his daughter his wife lol :P
^This is basically how I was going to reply to that though in my theory he does know Nala is his daughter. It shows you just how mad Scar is during Madness of King Scar in my opinion. He could have been so far gone he forgot Nala was his daughter during that segement of the song and yes I know how wrong that sounds and I agree wholeheartedly that it is. :P

But why would you think that Scar is her father... If something like that was true,it probably would have been mentioned in the movie, cause it does revolve around some of the most important characters in TLK.
And Scar never even had any interaction with her nor with Sarafina, except for the part of trying to make Nala his wife...
And just think,if Scar was her father,it makes Simba and Nala first cousins, now how would that be like... :yuck:

My theory is that Nala's father eigther abandoned her mother, or died. But considering he's got the same basic light color of skin that Simba has, maybe she's Mufasa's daughter?

I like your first thought there. ;)
But Mufasa being her father. I don't think that's possible... First of all due to the fact that Simba and Nala would be step siblings, that would be an insult to the movie itself.
Mufasa can't be her father becuase of many reasons. In the movie he had no interaction at all neither to Nala nor to Sarafina. In the scene where they sleep,Mufasa,Sarabi and Simba are on the middle rock,as they represent the king, queen and prince,if Nala was his daughter, wouldn't she be up there too...

Simba says that Nala is his friend, but if Mufasa was her father he would have to say sister, right?
Zazu tells how it's a tradition going back ages that they will get married( just like in the royal families),and that means that it would be impossible for them to be step siblings because that would mean that pride rock lions were incestious for generations. Now how little sense would that make!

When Mufasa saves them from the hyenas,he says:'If you ever come near my SON again...' if Nala was his daughter,he would probably mention them as his children.
Later on when Mufasa is talking to Simba alone,he says that he is dissapointed in him because he didn't listen to him and further more becuase he put Nala in danger-which is normal for him to worry becuase for a parent taking care of someone else's kid is a greater responsibility than to take care of your own.

If Mufasa was her father though, that'd make Simba and Nala brother and sister which I think is much worse than them being cousins. Another option is a rogue being Nala's father but I've never adhered to that theory myself which is within my right. Doesn't mean someone else can't of course just like I can stick with thinking Scar is her father. Disney didn't specify who it was so fans can think what they want.

I don't think either that Mufasa might be her father, that's the worst option out of all those.
Well yeah, everyone has a right for his/her own opinion, but I'm just saying how wrong it would be if Scar was her father,I mean Nala and Simba would be first cousins.
I believe that Nala's father is a rogue, cause I don't think that Disney would ever put incest in their movies.

I completely agree that Mufasa is the worst option.

Since we're not lions we can't really tell whether that is the tradition, or not. Lions I'd figure are just like any other animal, and don't really insanely care who it is.

I’ve always believed Scar is Nala’s father.
I know he has no interaction with her or Sarafina in the movie, but remember that TLK is all about SIMBA, and to be fair, Nala is "just a love intrest" and Scar is "just the villain." Their backstories aren’t really interesting unless it relates directly to Simba in some way that effects the storyline.
Who Nala’s father is (and if it is Scar) is completly uninteresting to the story of TLK as it’s presented in the movie because it doesn’t concern Simba and his journey. Even Nala’s mother (and Simba’s mother for that matter) had VERY minor roles in the movie, as they are not considered very important characters for the story. Sarafina’s name isn’t even mentioned in the movie, so we’re definatly not going to learn who she might have mated with in the past...
