I'm hoping to actually get a Mufasa plushie... anyone here got one of those?
I've actually got a Mufasa beanbag plush from when TLK came out on DVD in 2003. :happy3:

If TLK is coming out in 3D, I really want to see it especially if they add any new scenes. The more TLK, the better, right? ;)

I'm happy it's coming out in 3D! I've never seen it in theaters (not even Christmas 2002 at IMAX). But this likely means the 2011, or is it 2013 dvd and blu-ray release will include a 3D version of the film! My Lion King 2003 DVD is old and scratched, so I'd be happy to buy it again.
Actually, I think it's going to be a theatrical release if it does end up happening. ^^ Which will give those who never had the chance to see it in theaters, a second chance, or third chance if you count the iMax release way back when. ^^ Either way, as long as they don't ruin the integrity of the film itself, I'm all for it, even if it is a bit gimmicky, but if it brings TLK back in any way, that's all that matters to me. :)
actually, it's a 4th chance lol. TLK had 2 theater releases and then the IMAX. why? because they wanted a Christmas slot as well lol. or that's what I was told, since I saw it the original summer release.

I have mixed feelings about this. certainly I look forward to the merchandise :excited: and with a 4th release, it should certainly hold the title of animated movie with most theater releases (not to mention emphasize its epicness). now if it's the 3D I'm hoping for, it will certainly be great. most new 3D isn't cheesy flying at you effects anymore, but simply putting you IN the movie. imagine the stampede and fight scenes if it seems like you're there in them! plus, the younger generation will get to see it in theaters. but if it's Pixar style, then I'm horrified by Disney's judgement and direction. so I'm anxiously waiting for more information on this, if it's true.

as to what was mentioned earlier in this thread, I highly doubt Tim Burton would be put in charge of TLK lol. all of his movies are kinda weird/creepy but with a happy ending. TLK's not his style. and Disney certainly wouldn't use Go Animation when they used higher technology when they first did TLK for the stampede scene (which was a good bit CGI, by the way). if TLK's going to be in 3D, it'll either be a reworked original to put you in the picture or a Pixar animation (no doubt still putting you in the picture).

I mentioned the possibility to my mom and her immediate reaction was enthusiastically, "If it comes out in 3D, we HAVE to go and see it in theaters!" LOL. I was surprised. so glad our theater recently got 3D capability :cool2:

In all fairness, I don't think a CG version of TLK would necessarily be bad. Although it's true that a Pixar-style animation wouldn't appeal to us loyalists, I'm not sure that many of us are aware of "cel shading"--it's essentially computer-generated graphics with several techniques applied to it that render frames so that they appear "cartoonish".

Back on topic: I'd certainly be interested in seeing a 3D rehash of TLK, although a good sequel would be better, in my opinion. The original story plus a little extra insight into the universe would be great.

We've discussed this here and no one's really sure at this point, but imho, it's most likely going to be 3D as in an IMAX version of the film. I dunno, I just don't see a point in Disney reanimating and hiring new voice actors for the entire movie just so it looks like Finding Nemo or Toy Story o.0 I was personally hoping for the second one to be true but I guess we're all entitled to our own opinions. ;)
