It was night. A dark night. The cold breeze blew on Kovu's face. It seemed dangerously quiet that night. Nothing moving, nothing changing. Only the sound of the breeze could be heard. No movement at all in the Outlands. Not that there were other animals there apart from Kovu's pride and the termites...
Kovu stared at Pride Rock from the tallest termite mound of the Outlands, one of the pride's dens. The young lion was thinking of the future... What would he be like when he grew up? Would he manage to defeat Simba? Would he make his mother proud and make her efforts worth it?
Sure, he didn't like his training. Every night he'd fall down, exhausted by climbing termite mounds, diving into the alligator river, sneaking into the Pride Lands without anyone noticing, beating up other lions and lionesses of his age... But he had to do it if he didn't want to end up living in the Outlands for his entire life while the Pridelanders are living a life of luxury. It was really unfair to exile them because they were loyal to his ''father'', Scar. He wasn't really his father, but he would never get to see his real father.
The young prince stretched and waited for someone to tell him to get down and go to sleep, but maybe they wouldn't notice him at all up there.

Meanwhile, in the Pride Lands, Nala was stargazing near Pride Rock. She felt a cold breeze, sign that Mufasa's spirit would be always there to guide them. She smiled slightly and looked at a bunch of stars forming three lions fighting each other. She enjoyed stargazing so much... During Scar's reign, nobody was allowed to go outside the den at night so she couldn't stargaze. She thanked the great Kings that Simba wasn't like his coldhearted uncle..
But thinking about Scar's reign reminded her of the Outsiders... She wondered if Simba made the right decision by exiling them just for that. She knew Simba hated anyone who admires or even likes Scar because of what he did to his father, himself and the Pride Lands. But those lions and lionesses did nothing wrong... But now it was too late to think of that. The Outsiders are furious about it and somehow, she knew they were planning their revenge, but she hoped her instincts weren't right this time. She sighed and continued stargazing, hoping that the Pride Lands would remain the way they are now forever.
