Prologue
Everything happens for a reason. It’s not always clear what that reason is, but no matter what that reason is we must push forward. This story however breaks the laws of physics, biology and logic as we know it. This story follows a part of my life, the life of a dear friend of mine, and how our already crazed lives, take an un expected turn. It’s time to move
Chapter 1 — Schools out

Its a normal day in New Jersey America. The sun was out, everyone was going about their daily business. For one girl however business was...different. Katie, a teenage girl, sits in her room on her computer, accompanied by her pet Cody. Cody was a husky, but far from normal. For reasons unknown he had the ability to talk
Both of them are just resting till Katie turns to Cody and makes a request ”˜Cody, go get me some cookies’ Cody perks up and looks at his friend and responds in an apologetic tone ”˜Can’t do that, we have non in’ Katie almost falls of her chair as she hyperventilates. Cody walks over and attempts to calm her down ”˜Why don’t you just go buy some if you’re so bothered?’ Katie sorts herself out and sits back up ”˜I can’t no money. Spent it on a new stuffed animal’ Katie indicates the wolf plushie on her bed ”˜and that new hoodie’ Cody added. Katie growled and pounced Cody, nibbling at his ear.
Just as Cody was about to pounce back, a bell starting ringing in the background. Katie opened her eyes to find herself still in school. She had been day dreaming again, a common activity for her. She found school so dull and often ended up day dreaming or drawing on her homework books. Before she had the chance to fully wake, the bell had caught her by surprise and she fell off her seat. One of her friends , Bryan , saw the whole thing and began laughing his backside off. Katie responded by hopping up and giving him a slap. ”˜That didn’t hurt one bit’ Bryan responded. Katie looked a little embarrassed but replied in a calm voice ”˜I wasn’t trying to hurt you anyway’
Bryan collected his things and started to walk off ”˜I’m off to the study hall, you have German class don’t you?’ he asked her ”˜Yeah, might actually go to it’ Katie responded. Bryan just left chuckling to himself. Katie gathered up her things and proceeded out into the hallway. As she turns the corner to go to her locker she bumps into someone and falls over. Instantly she jumps up, grabbing her things ”˜Jesus I’m so sorry about that I...’ her speech is cut sort as she realizes who it is
It was Dan and boy in her year. The two of them had a huge crush on each other for some time yet never took it further ”˜Don’t worry about it silly’ He responded ”˜So you going to German class or what?’ She looked at him and blushed slightly ”˜I don’t know, I kind of hate it’ Dan just laughed at her ”˜Yeah me too, fancy going for a walk with me instead’ He held out his hand waiting for a response. Katie perked up and jumped at the chance instantly grabbing his hand ”˜Lead the way' She gave him a kiss on the cheek as the pair began to head for the exit
The romance didn’t last too long one outside ”˜Shouldn’t you be in class?’ Came a voice from the road. Katie and Dan looked up to see who it was. She breathed a sigh of relief when she noticed who it was. It was Connor, a long time friend of hers for near 4 years ”˜Jesus Connor don’t scare me like that! I nearly had a heart attack’ Connor just grinned at her and walked forward ”˜You have a heart attack every time you see me’ Connor gave Katie a quick hug ”˜I’m not going to turn you both in, infact I’m glad you’re out’
Katie turned her head looking slightly confused ”˜Get in the car I’ll explain. He can come too’ With that Connor opened his car and got in. Katie and Dan shortly followed. As soon as they were in Connor set off heading to Katie’s home ”˜So what’s up bro?’ Katie asked Connor. The two of them were very close and considered each other family ”˜I was going past your house and I saw your window wide open, thought I’d come and get you just in case’ Katie looked scared for a moment ”˜Do you think he is ok?’ she asked her voice almost shaky ”˜Who is ok?’ Asked Dan in the back seat ”˜We will see soon enough’ replied Connor as he continued to drive on

Chapter 2 - Our Secret

Connor pulled the car up to Katie’s house. As the three of them got out and looked up, it was clear Katie’s room and be entered from the outside as the hinges were slightly bust. The trio walked towards the door, but Dan stood in Katie’s way ”˜Dan what’s the matter with you?’ Katie inquired ”˜There could be a killer in there Katie, I don’t want you hurt’ She looked ahead to Connor and he looked back ”˜Dan your over reacting’ she replied ”˜If it bothers you though I’m sure Connor will go first’
No more was said for now. Connor reached up his back and pulled down a 9mm, before using Katie’s key to get inside. They moved slowly with Connor in front to clear the way. Instantly the group made their way upstairs to Katie’s room. At the bedroom door Connor braced himself ready just in case. On the count of three he burst in and scanned the room. Instantly he sighed and holstered his gun ”˜It’s alright’ he called back to Katie and Dan who were waiting ”˜It’s just Kovu and Cody’
Katie dashed in and instantly tackled Cody as Connor went over and pet Kovu ”˜CODY!!’ Katie yelled ”˜I missed you boy’ Cody gasped for air in Katie’s grasp and managed to respond ”˜Yeah... missed you too...’ Eventually he wiggled free as Connor gave Kovu some attention and hugged him ”˜What the hell you doing here Kovu, I told you it’s dangerous out there’ Kovu looked a little sheepish ”˜Sorry but I was just restless so I thought I’d come see Cody’ Connor just shook his head and hugged the lion ”˜Crazy fool’
Dan was stood at the door and watched what went on, jaw wide open in disbelief ”˜What the hell is going on!?! They can talk?!’ The four of them can snapped round and looked at Dan ”˜Katie, you haven’t told him have you’ asked Connor ”˜No, not had the chance’ Connor stood up and went over to Dan ”˜Long story short, me and Katie found these guys a couple years ago just abandoned so we took them in and cared for them. Ever since then we have been looking to find out why they are here as it is obvious they are not natural to earth’
Dan walked in and went closer to Kovu and Cody ”˜Wow that’s so odd they look like they are from the films or something’ Dan went to stroke Kovu, who left him pet his mane a little ”˜Thats whats odd about them’ Said Katie ”˜We want to know how they exist, so far we have had little luck and we have to keep it very quiet’ Dan jumped up in front of Katie ’Then we should run away together, and start a pride, all our own’ he chuckled but the laughter was cut short when he received a clip over the head from Connor ”˜It might look all fun and games but its not. People have tried to hurt these guys and we got to protect them’ Dan sat down and rubbed his head ”˜Ok sorry I didn’t mean harm’ Connor looked in at both of them ”˜You two should be in school right?’
Katie and Dan looked at each other, then at Connor and shrugged ”˜Meh’ went Katie ”˜We thought we would just skip class again... It’s just boring’ Connor face palmed and took out his phone then walked out the room ”˜What was all that about?’ Asked Dan ”˜Oh erm let’s just say this isn’t the first time he has done that’ Katie blushed slightly ”˜Oh I get it’ said Dan as he pounced on top of Katie and they began kissing. Cody, who was pushed off the bed by their actions, joined Kovu ”˜You know Kovu I really don’t understand human mating rituals’ Kovu nodded slowly and observed a bit ”˜Yeah I know what you mean, four legs are better than two any day'
At that moment two pillows went flying over the room and hit both Kovu and Cody in the face ”˜WE ARE NOT MATING!!!! JUST KISSING’ Yelled Katie ”˜Well you do that some other time’ said Connor who was back at the door ”˜You guys have a month off, don’t ask how are why, you just do, but this is no vacation, we got work to do’ Katie nodded in reply while Dan sat in a huff ”˜Look I know its not the best plan ever but we got to..’
Connor was interrupted by sharp knock on the door ”˜OPEN UP THIS IS THE FBI! IF YOU DO NOT OPEN THE DOOR WE WILL’ The group looked at each other in fear. Connor pulled out his 9mm again ”˜Stay here I’ll deal with this’ He went to the window and looked out, seeing only four men. To Connor it was nothing, he had been through worse but had to keep his guard up. He moved out to the hall way and stood looking down the stairs below
The agent outside yelled again ”˜YOU HAVE THE COUNT OF 3 TO OPEN THIS DOOR! 1.... 2...... 3!’ The front door was smashed in. The 4 men rushed in. 2 covered the downstairs while the other 2 began making their way up. Connor quickly ducked round the corner covering the stairs waiting. When he heard the first man reach the top Connor jumped round and knocked the guy out with his gun. Before the agent fell he grabbed him to use for a shield and just in time as the 2nd guy began firing.
Connor, who was unharmed due to meat shield, returned fire and killed the second man. The other agents began running to help. Using one of the bodies, Connor flung it over the edge, landing on one man, disabling him. He then jumped up and pointed his gun at the last agent ”˜FREEZE!’ Connor yelled ”˜Don’t move’ The agent stood still and held up his hands ”˜Slowly put the gun down’ Connor demanded as he began moving down the stairs watching both men as they put their weapons down. ”˜Good now kick them away’ They obey, just as Connor came face to face and held the men at gun point
”˜Good, now who sent you and why?’ The first guard still standing looked pale and spoke in a shaky voice ”˜Look , I don’t know the full details. I just got orders from my superior. He said there was group of young people here with some weird animals or something. I didn’t think anything of it’ Connor looked the man right in the eyes. If he need to, Connor would shoot the guy dead ”˜Anything else?’ The agent shook his head ”˜Good, now turn around’ The agent did so. As soon as his back was turned Connor, knocked both of the men out. He then took both sets of cuffs off the guards and cuff their hands, interlinking the cuffs, together
After dealing with the agents Connor went back upstairs to check on the others ”˜You all ok?’ The four of them nodded ”˜OK well we got to get out of here. Katie, pack a bag and fast’ She jumped up and rush round the room as quick as she could, with Dan helping, to pack stuff she would need. Connor kept a close eye on outside in case more men came for them. Ten minutes passed and Katie was ready ”˜OK let’s get to the car and out of here quickly’ Connor lead them out and into his car. Katie took the front seat. Dan took the back. The rest of the seats were pushed down to give room for Kovu and Cody. As soon as they were ready Connor set off, although he had no idea where to lead his friends to safety
