Why are we all obsessed with TLK ?
Sucks to be at your school then.. xD
It really does.

Just today in my English class we were starting to read Hamlet(which the lion king is based off) and we were talking about Shakespeare and one of my friends really likes Shakespeare so when she talked about his plays and whatnot the whole class was giving her WTF stares and I couldn't believe that.

@Katelyn and WildSimba: Those are some pretty impressive stories. I don't really have one because the first time I saw any of the lion king movies was like a year or so ago. I was like three or four when it originally came out and my brother was like five or six so I thought for sure they would have at least gotten the first movie on video or seen it in theaters but I guess either they didn't think we would like it or they weren't interested in it.
The winner for last week's question is...NalaLionQueen. Congratulations!!

This weeks question:What is the only other known place in the universe with a stable body of surface liquid?

Winner and next question will be announced next Sunday.

like the entire school I go to knows I'm obssessed with Lion King 8-) I personally don't give a crap what they think. I wear my huge Simba head hat for crazy hat day for the SCA, I draw fanart in every class I get time to, and I wear as much TLK clothing as I can get. to get in my favor they claim it's the greatest, while I know they don't mean it. but one of my friend's is a big fan too, she's TLKFAA's Kalliana...but people don't think she's cool like me for other reasons. and my bestest best friend doesn't go to public school but her and her 3 brothers and sister love it like I do and try to get me TLK stuff for my birthday. she's TLKFAA's Kitten.it just pisses me off when those rumors go around that I think I'm a cat....just because you think something stupid when you were 5-9 doesn't mean you do at age 16 gah.

I would type my TLK story....but it'd be all deep...and that's weird for me.

Here's my story (it’s 100% true):
My parents told me that TLK was the first movie I ever watched, even though it came out two years before I was born. I remember watching it when I was about two or three years old. I didn't understand a word of it, but I remember loving it anyway. I was awed by Mufasa and I thought Simba was really cute! I didn't find out about SP till I was six, and the first time I watched it I immediately fell in love with Kiara. I still didn't really understand much. I have no idea how I lived the next five years without watching either of the movies, but somehow I did. Then, when I turned eleven, something happened that changed my view of TLK forever...
It was the last day of school before winter break. I was in sixth grade. We were all in the auditorium because the choir was going to sing a few Christmas carols before everyone went home. There were lots of nice songs and many people sang along, but near the end, they announced that they would be singing a special surprise. It was the song "The Lion Sleeps Tonight". The moment they started singing, I was captivated. It seemed like something in me that had been locked had finally opened up. It was the most beautiful song I had ever heard. Everyone else obviously loved it too because they were screaming and cheering like mad. Some were actually standing up and singing. Soon everyone was standing up, including me. Being short, I wasn't able to see the choir anymore, but I could still hear their wonderful music. When it ended, everyone went wild.
On the way home the whole bus sang the song except me. I was too busy enjoying it in my head. I made a mental note to go home and find that song again on the internet. When I got home, I immediately Googled "The Lion Sleeps Tonight". While I was listening to it, I decided to listen to some other TLK songs. Again, they sounded amazing. How could I have survived so long without listening to such masterpieces?
After listening to all the songs, my thirst for TLK was still not quenched. I needed more. Eventually I grew obsessed with Simba and would Google him just to look at images of him. While doing this, I discovered "The Top Fifty Lion King Sites". I browsed through each site (including Moka's!) looking for pictures of Simba. Then I printed them. I still have most of them right now.
After a while, I discovered Melanie's site (www.simbaholic.webs.com). While I was scrolling through it, I noticed some writing at the bottom. It said "Want your own free site? Try Freewebs.com." I clicked it and that's how my site was born. I would continuously go back to other TLK sites, especially Moka's, looking for TLK stuff. By then, I was a serious TLK-o-holic. I'd always thought Moka's site was abandoned till one day in May I saw the words "Happy Cinco de Mayo, everyone!!" in the News section and a huge picture underneath it. I remember almost falling off my chair. This site wasn't abandoned! I’d always felt sad at how people just hopelessly abandoned such good sites, so when I found out that Moka’s was still in use, I was overjoyed. I quickly signed up to be a member.
Later I found out about TLK 1.5 so I begged my parents to buy it for me. It was hilarious! By then I also had the first two movies on DVD as well.

So yeah, you pretty much know the story from there. ;)

Oh, and in case you're wondering, after winter break, people still liked the song, but by then their obsession had passed. Not so for me, but I kept that a secret, except from my two best friends and my family. I now own a huge stock of TLK-related merchandise! Long live the Lion King!!! :D

"The Lion Sleeps Tonight", is technically not a TLK song, since it was only sang briefly in TLK, and without permission from the original singer (Since he died), so his family ended up suing Disney for emotional damage. TLK's songs are very captivating though. :)

Quite a story, Amanda. :) Its awesome that the first movie you saw was TLK. I don't think I can say that, but it might be the very first movie I saw in theatres.

Lol I remember posting the Cinco de Mayo post, it was May, 2008. If you want to see it again click here. =P

It's wierd that I used to visit your site frequently but never knew you were still updating it! I think I discovered it in January or something. I also visited other abandoned TLK sites. I had to search quite a bit before I found the ones that were still active.

I'm obsses with TLK because of his characters that I really love, but also I can say that another reason it can be fro the great story, that's one of the main reasons that TLK is a master piece, and also is because of the amazing music that remind me my childhood.
