I thought the story was really good even though the great maze annoyed the heck out of me.
As for a favorite character one of the things I like best is that ya can play as Sonic and my second favorite is Pit.

My favourite characters are Captain Falcon and Sonic FTW!! =] I just love being both characters, they have awesome moves, and I just love them.
