Why exactly did Nala and Simba fall in love?

I'm not really sure about this one, I guess is one of this moments where they are very young, they tend to be the best friends, but when they are adults, they show the feeling that one has in to the other

I just want to say something here.. Naturally she must have been devastated when she thought Simba was dead, but seeing what was happening around her in that moment... first she reacts with grief to the news of Simba and Mufasa, then with horror and disbelief as the Hyenas slowly invade.. There must have been a huge ammount of feelings and impressions for the cub to deal with at that point. I’m sure Nala broke down in tears countless times over the years as she thought of Simba.

And another thing: We never see Sarabi even shed one tear. She simply bows her head in grief, her face torn in pain.. but she doesn’t weep. She just learned that both her husband and only cub died, it seems natural to me that she would react with tears. Still I have no doubt that Sarabi loved her family above everything.[/quote]

Simba was desperate, plus Nala was the first lioness he saw after years, while Nala saw the first sane lion after years.

Because it was written in the script.

Meh, they must have been in love when they were cubs anyway, and my guess is that they were more than 'best friends'. Well, we'd need more screentime with them together to figure out why.

About that being betrothed... It never ever crossed my mind that Zazu's little speach before the IJCWTBK song would mean that the two were arranged to be married possibly already back when they were infants. Not until I heard someone's theory of it. Sadly it was in pop quiz which claims it a fact - but is it a fact? I know in real life some cultures/classes have that stupid custom, but has it been confirmed by Disney that this was the case in TLK?

I always thought it was just Zazu yapping on his romantic visions leading it to be about getting married over-all. Especially as, in the Finnish dubbing, his literal words are "You've been promised to each others." in a questioning tone, as if asking Simba and Nala if that's what they're going to be - because he himself thinks they're so potential and cute and all.

But now that I think of it, I guess the arranged marriage style makes more sense to that scene.
