Opinions of TLK1.5

I didn't really like it, I thought it was a waist since Timon and Pumba already have/had(?) their own TV show.
I also don't get how Max could dig a tunnel right through Pride Rock - which one would expect would be made of solid rock, and therefore impossible to dig through.
Actually Kovu, there's a lot of plants and trees on Pride Rock meaning there has to be a lot of dirt somewhere. My guess is there's layers of dirt and rock and Max was digging through the dirt, while T & P and the hyenas were on a dirt path.

I thought it was really funny and helped balance out the super-emo simba's pride. And since the first one was based off Hamlet, it's only natural that they'd make one based off rosencrantz and guildenstern are dead. The only thing I don't like is the fans that hate it because it made fun of the original which is some kind of mortal sin for some crazy people/fans.

I found the movie amusing, but agree with many people in that it well way, WAY short of what it could have been.

As a parody of TLK, it didn't do a bad job, but it didn't do a fantastic job, either. I have to agree with several others here in that T & P just aren't quite suited as main characters. Comic relief characters just don't work when they're a main character, as almost everything they say and do seems to need a comic edge (or maybe that was Disney trying too hard, I don't know)

In any case, it's an enjoyable movie in itself...just leave your brain behind when you watch it. I personally prefer deep, dramatic stories in my movies to the cheesy, shallow comic stuff, but I do enjoy the occasional mindless film, so this one was alright in my books.

There were a few scenes (mainly the parenthood stuff) that I found enjoyable.

But for me personally, I think a whole movie with Timon and Pumbaa as main characters is just wrong. Like AustralianChaos mentioned, comic relief characters need other characters to play off and use their jokes on. An entire movie with comic relief characters as main characters doesn’t work, as they lack the ability to be truly serious and emotional.

Also, the thing I REALLY dislike about this movie is the way Timon and Pumbaa sit in a cinema watching TLK. It’s like they’re actors who got hired to play parts in TLK.. Do you know what I mean? I half excpected Mufasa and Scar to walk in and point out their great acting in the stampede scene. It feels so wrong when the characters know it’s a movie, rather than actual events taking place in their lives.
Hope that made sense.

Though I didn't like how they kept pausing and crap throughout the film, I actually liked that they started and ended in a theatre. It kinda broke the 4th wall, but eh, I thought it was pretty funny (the ending especially, with all the random Disney character cameos).

As for the movie as a whole: I didn't like it much at all. My main complaint is that instead of reusing the clips for the songs, they tried to redo them with new singers and failed miserably (see IJCWTBK for best example). The music is one of the things I loved most about the first film, and watching them destroy that was rather painful.

I don't necessarily dislike it because it makes fun of the first movie, but more because it did a pretty poor job of it. I can understand and enjoy a good parody; I just don't like when people try to make a parody and end up disgracing the parodied material because it just isn't funny.
