Modified or Want to Modify Your Gear?

Postby SnowyCheetah » May 29th, 2010, 5:20 am

If so, and you'd like to share your (legal) modifications to iPods, iPhones, iPads, mp3 players, etc. I'd best provide a disclaimer understandable by those who don't think about the legality of their actions those who might misunderstand.

This thread is strictly for activities that don't break laws. Simple as that. For this thread's topic, that especially applies to (but is not limited to):

Hacking - Don't hack into other people's computers/phones/anything that belongs to someone else

Piracy - Dont steal! This includes taking things that aren't yours, and getting software without paying when you should be paying, like illegal downloading

Any modifications posted here must have a clear approval or consent given by the publisher of the product.

...that pretty much covers it. Don't hack others' equipment, make sure you have the publisher's clear approval, and don't steal stuff, software or other. Clear?

Now then! Post here if you've done any unconventional modifications to your computers or other electronics (this includes software mods, and not normal customization such as changing your desktop background). I'll be posting about mine soon ^^

I don't know if the modifications to my stuff are legal or not. The only ones I think I can safely post are my software ones which include weapons, maps / levels etc for various Games (Such as Unreal Tournament on PS3 which actually advertises the fact you can do this.)The hardware ones on my PSP, 360, PC etc I don't know about the legality.

All modifications done to ANY product without the publisher having approved it is illegal. I noticed the disclaimer but the entire message contradicts itself. You are basically saying "Post all modifications here that are out of the ordinary, but no illegal stuff!"
Gone for good.

This thread seems as though it's going to cause a few headaches in the future, so let's save ourselves the trouble, shall we? There are plenty of dedicated forums out there in regards to this type of thing and regardless of whether material posted in this thread would be considered legal or not, for the sake of MLK and its staff having to act as judges for content like this (which in my opinion, doesn't need to be on here cause like I stated, there's plenty of other forums out there that revolve around this sort of thing and modifying hardware incorrectly can result in your product either being damaged or having its warranty void due to going against User License Agreements and we don't want people pointing fingers at others for causing their electronics to break, now do we?), let's just stay away from this sort of topic. ^^
