"Good morning, Aldeola!" Her friends called out. Her smile beamed over to them like the morning sun did on her burnt sad colored pelt. It was so warm out, and she loved the weather. Of course, compared to the weather of non-stop rains in Africa that they had been getting, this was a large step up and she loved it. Surely, she would not be taken as anything less than a lioness to take the sun in as much as she could.
"Ooh, look over there" one of the girls said, as all the lionesses called out, making the others look over past Adeola. Her own hazel eyes peered over to where the lionesses were gawking, and she spotted a pride of male lions.
"Nice view" one giggled, making them all except for Adeola giggle. The males obviously heard the giggle, as the lazy cats got up from their lounging around position and started to walk over to the love-struck females. They were like cats on catnip; rolling around the grass, waving their paws in the air, and letting out small growls of happiness. Adeola, would not be one of those females to do that...any more, at least.
"Excuse me", a light growl came from her voice as she hopped down from the rock and started walking towards the water hole.
"Adeola?"
She turned her head to look over her shoulder and let a fake smile cross her face, "I just have to cool down for a little. I'll catch up with you all later" she excused herself. The lioness knew it was probably one of the worst explanations for an excuse she had ever come up with, but she wanted to spend some time away from the lions and obnoxious lionesses that were acting too smitten for her liking.
When she reached the water hole, she let out a sigh and watched her shivering reflection thanks to the wind coming off the water and rippling her. She let out a sigh and started to lay her body down. "And that was the best place to get sun..." she mumbled, putting her head on her paws crossed over the other and gave a dull expression to the tree across from the small body of water.
