Kovu nodded confirming he heard what Navi had said about the plan. He saw the lioness over there and told her, "If we escape this I wll carry Kiara for you okay?" He watched those lions get closer and told Navi, "Anytime now would be good Navi for I do not think they can get any closer." He admitted that he was scared right then and there. He tried to make himself look fierce to keep the lions at bay.

Navi snarled and threw the rope into the pride. It landed on one lion's neck, just as she had hoped. She pulled it tight and choked the lion. As the rest of the pride, unfamiliar with ropes, rushed to the lion's aid, Navi whispered Run! and took off, making sure Kovu and the lioness were right behind her.

Kovu took off but not before quickly putting Kiara on his back. He ran as fast as he could until he stopped by the clearing. He looked at Navi and told her, "Thank you for your great idea," and smiled. He looked at the lioness and said, "You know you were great back there. I was very impressed by your skills."

Navi and the lioness thanked Kovu. Setting Grunge on the ground, the lioness gasped quietly as she looked closely at his closed eyes. "Kovu... I don't think he's alright..."

He looked at Grunge and said to the lioness, "Can he make it to the Pride Lands? I mean we cannot just sit here and let him die!" He looked at Navi, "Jack has missed you terribly."

Navi hung her head. "Jack..." she said, a tear coming to her eye as her voice broke up. She went a short distance away and cried quietly. The lioness was nearly as sad, gently resting her paw on Grunge's neck. "he's... already dead..." she said, looking sorrowfully at Kovu.

Kovu saw her slip away and yelled, "Navi, Navi Jack is okay!" Then he heard the horrible news from the lioness. "What?! No! No!" He came over to the lioness and said to her, "Everyone I have ever known has died or been hurt badly around me. I am cursed by the Great Kings of the Past!" He looked away ashamed.

Navi looked up, a hopeful look in her eye. But then Kovu plunged into apparent emotional agony. "Kovu..." the lioness said, "You're not cursed at all. If you were, you wouldn't have such a wonderful lioness as your mate and unconditional lover." she looked at Kiara. Just then, Navi sniffed Grunge and quickly nudged Kovu. "The Pridelands, Kovu! We've got to get him to Priderock! Perhaps the Kings haven't cursed you after all!"

"Navi are you sure?" He then smelled Grunge and said, "Come on we are to run as fast as we can! Navi you will meet your cheetahs and Jack there and you," he pointed to the lioness, "have a new pride if you so choose. Come on." He started into a very powerful sprint but considering he was about Simba's age at the second movie he was not as fast as he used to be. He saw Navi go past him very quickly and said to the lioness, "Come on."

Navi ran with all her might. She imagined Jack, and everyone else whom she loved. She then skidded to a stop, looking around and motioning for Kovu to stop. She screamed an obscenity, then looked at Kovu gloomily. "Damn! We don't know where the hell the Pridelands are!" she smacked her head on the ground in immense frustration.
