There's a lyric Zazu sings (or just says) in the "Cant Wait to be King" song, saying something about staying in Africa. I think this indicates that somehow, Zazu (and presumably many others) know the name of their geographical location. Would that, in turn, indicate some type of interaction with humans at some point? If not, how else might Zazu have learned the word "Africa?"

Zazu also knew pig-latin ("Ix-nay on the oopid-stay."). And he started singing It's a Small World while in captivity during Scar's reign.
Seems like Zazu's withholding a lot of human knowledge.

Lol, funny, but also very true. Perhaps he had a lot of travels, considering he is a bird. Or maybe it's just one of those cases where Disney incorporates content that just doesn't belong, eh? Oooooor maybe they just used this lyric because they couldn't think of anything better. Lol

They do the little human references to keep the movie interesting for humans. They do this a lot in TLK with Zazu, and they do this again in Simba's Pride. (Timon says "Somebody's gotta get a beeper for this kid!"

I don't think we analytical fans are supposed to find any deeper meaning than that, even though it is oh-so-fun to speculate ^^

I’ve seen Cub Simba mention Africa in a comic too. And in Tarzan, Tantor’s mother explains to him that there are no pirajas in Africa, to which another Elephant replies that they live only in South America. And in Oliver and Company, Dodger has a pretty good knowledge of streetnames. (where did he learn to read?)

Anyway, I think it’s natural that in a movie where animals act like humans (being able to talk, etc) they know the name of the country/continent they live in.
