I just think there'd be a gap between the end fight and the actual end.
There was no time lapse shown at the end of TLK2SP, like there was in the first movie, so we the viewer are naturally to assume that no time passed, aside from a single sunrise. ^^ That's just my opinion though. Maybe I'm wrong but three years seems like an awful lot of time to pass in that timespan. It's still a nice theory though, I'm not trying to discredit it in any way. ^^
