I don't think there's anything more to it (even after reading all these theories) than one of Rafiki's bad jokes. You know he likes to do that, especially when others don't really find it amusing

For the longest time I didn't even know what Rafiki was saying after "Can't cut it out!". I don't really know what to make of it. I'm thinking it might be some kind of witty remark or something like that. Then again, it could just be a really bad joke.

I never bothered looking deeper into that remark until now. Rafiki always came across as slightly eccentric, so I just it down to one of his eccentric jokes.

I like some of the theories presented, but I always looked at it as Rafiki deliberately taking Simba's words too literally to either annoy him, or just as a joke.

Either way, Rafiki's an awesome character

It's a metaphor pretty much. The word has two meaning and Rafiki played on the one that Simba wasn't talking about to bother him.
