Oliver Favre dived 177 ft (53.94 m) into open water in 1987 in France.

And survived.

Oh well, we're all allowed opinions here, right?
If Pop says that she didn't die, ok. And if you guys say that she did, that's ok too. I don't think it's really nessecary to fight and argue over a scene in an animated movie.

Sounds like you're talking about a trained and/or professional diver. I don't think Zira was trained or professional... lol...

Lions can't swim in general. The LK knows that too. Remember how Nala, and I think both Simba and Kiara, didn't like water?

Good call. It's one thing to state your opinion and be done with it but it's another to keep hammering it into peoples' brains and posting that you agree after every time someone supports your opinion.

The arguments in this thread are becoming pretty skimpy, and not much is being contributed except posts with opinions filled with resentment. Let's be reasonable about this and not hate each other's guts because we don't agree how far a lioness can fall before the impact kills her eh? <3

Actually, lions can swim just as well as any cat can. They just dislike water, like most cats do. ^^ Some prides of lions have even adapted to areas of Africa to which they are forced to swim through channels of water in order to get to their prey and have body builds that aid in this process, such as stronger and bigger chests and physiques. :) With that said however, I doubt any of them are doing any high dives off cliffsides before hand, but yeah, I don't think this question will ever truly be answered indefinitely. All we can do is speculate. ^^
