Do you consider 2 to be a canon succesor to The Lion King?

Ah OK, I see. Thanks!

And to reply to the OP: Of course it’s canon. I know SP has it’s flaws, but it’s still a worthy sequel to TLK.
I consider it canon. It's a good sequel in my opinion... The people who say it "isn't canon because it's bad" are immature.
What exactly does canon mean? That it’s official Disney material?
"Canon" means it actually happened in the world/universe that a series is set in (and is confirmed by the creator(s) of the series). So, saying that "The second Lion King movie is not canon" would be saying "the events in the second Lion King movie didn't really happen".

The opposite term to Canon is "Fanon", which is information created by Fans. Like, if someone writes a fan-fiction, it's fanon. Basically, "it might be true in a fans mind, however it is not true in the actual story-line of the series".

I know you didn't ask about Fanon but I thought I might as well explain that as well. :B
So what is Semi-Canon?

Semi-canon is characters like Kopa and Chaka, so they are technicly Disney characters but the films don't acknowledge them
:ni2: :kopa3: :malka2: :tama: This makes them upset :(

I consider SP to be canon even if there are a few flaws. Nothings perfect.
The madness hampsters
Every night they visit you,
Every night they come,
And bit by bit they take your brain
And feed it to their mum.

I still consider TLK 2 a great secel, but if you are saying that because of the quality of the movie, the animation, the coloring, and all this stuffs is because this movie was made cheap

To put it simple, let's say TLK2 isn't canon, then the events truly never happened and the characters probably don't exist.

There have been many other cases in other medias, and even Disney media, where things have been retconned and material made non-canon.

So far the only Disney sequels in the Disney official canon are Fantasia 2 and The Rescuers sequel; All other sequels are semi-canon (they are licensed by Disney, and made by Disney, but not considered canon).

For example, Pixar-Disney fans aren't Disney Animated canon. The Little Mermaid is Animated Canon, but 2 and 3 aren't. Cinderella is animated canon, but it's sequels aren't. Mulan is canon, but not Mulan 2.

The Disney canon are the films Disney acknowledges, they are considered canon in the line of Disney movies, etc.

..

Snow White And The Seven Dwarfs
Pinocchio
Fantasia
Dumbo
Bambi
Saludos Amigos
The Three Caballeros
Make Mine Music
Fun And Fancy Free
Melody Time
The Adventures Of Ichabod And Mr Toad
Cinderella
Alice In Wonderland
Peter Pan
Lady And The Tramp
Sleeping Beauty
One Hundred And One Dalmatians
The Sword In The Stone
The Jungle Book
The Aristocats
Robin Hood
The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh
The Rescuers
The Fox And The Hound
The Black Cauldron
The Great Mouse Detective
Oliver And Company
The Little Mermaid
The Rescuers Down Under
Beauty and the Beast
Aladdin
The Lion King
Pocahontas
The Hunchback Of Notre Dame
Hercules
Mulan
Tarzan
Fantasia 2000
Dinosaur
The Emperors New Groove
Atlantis: The Lost Empire
Lilo And Stitch
Treasure Planet
Brother Bear
Home On The Range
Chicken Little
Meet The Robinsons
Bolt
The Princess And The Frog
Tangled
Winnie The Pooh

Those are the Disney animated canon movies.

To Disney it goes like this:

Canon (aka Box office/Awards/Reviews):
Every movie produced Walt Disney Pictures (including the sequel "Rescuers Down Under").
Snow White And The Seven Dwarfs
(...)
The Lion King ("Fluffy")
(...)
Tangled
Winnie The Pooh

Not canon (aka Money):
Sequels produced by Toon Disney (aka Walt Disney Television Animation):
Return of Jafar
(...)
The Lion King 2 (Kiara)
(...)
The Little Mermaid 3
+ Books (Six New Adventures ---> Kopa),
+ Tv Shows (Timon & Pumbaa, Aladdin...)

Fanon: (aka Imagination)
Original characters (Tanabi...),
+ Fan theories ("Zira killed Kopa"...),
+ Fanfiction.

To Disney, SNA and SP are actually equal: official material but NOT canon.
