Kiara chuckled at the memory of her pregnancy. How adorable and attentive Kovu had been. He'd ask her if she needed anything every five minutes. If it weren't so cute, Kiara would've been extremely irritated with all the attention he was giving her. Kiara could recall Kovu panicking quite alot when she told him it was time for the cub to arrive. Kiara noticed that Ayari was very attentive to Vitani as well, but she was not as kind about it. Kiara knew that Vitani was too proud to make her mate do things for her, but it was adorable when Ayari made her eat the food that he hunted for her, even if she wasn't hungry. Perhaps their cubs would grow immensely in strength just from all the food that Vitani was made to eat.

Kiara sighed as she looked to the sky and then she looked over to the narrow river. "I guess it would be best to get going. I can't wait to see Shwari and Zina. Husudu too of course." Kiara stated with a giggle as she began to trot again down towards the river bank. Kiara took a quick gaze at the slow flowing river and quickly jumped in. She resurfaced the top portion of herself and began to walk slowly across the river, with the water cleansing her fur and giving her a nice cool off at the same time. Kiara looked to Vitani hoping she was following along with no problems.

//

Shwari gazed at his mate lovingly and a smile grew on his face. In all the time that had passed, and all the troubles he caused her by making her move to the jungle with him she still remained as deep in love with him as he was with her. He just sat there staring at his mate for a moment before looking down. "I slept great. How could I not with such a great kingdom? Such a great daughter? Such a beautiful and wise queen?" Shwari murmured as he nuzzled Zina again. If anything he was glad the events of the past occurred. If they had not, then Zina and him would not have met and not been as happy as they were today.

Uzuri's ears twitched as Shwari spoke, and her eyes opened slowly. She fell off Husudu's back with a thud, and stood slowly, rubbing her eyes with the back of her paws. She had grown under Husudu's care her entire life and not for a moment did she regret it. Husudu was a great father, though he was very strict and conservative. He hated the idea of her finding a mate, or even being looked at by males. Uzuri's beauty was a curse in a sense then. She had great admiration and respect for her father, regardless of his protective behavior. She knew she was his only daughter and that it would be difficult to see her go when the time came.

For now Uzuri was just an adolescent lioness however. All she could do was tease the males, showing off what they could not have. Unless they wanted to be killed by Husudu of course, they would make a move. Uzuri looked to her uncle Shwari and quickly trotted up to him. "Good morning uncle and aunty!" Uzuri said fondly bowing her head.

"Don't bow. You know how I feel about that Uzuri" Shwari said quietly as he lifted his niece's chin with the back of his paw so that her head wasn't in a bow. Uzuri chuckled.

"I do it because it is a formality. Daddy said I have to even if you said I shouldn't." Uzuri said with a wide smile.

//

Teso chuckled at Karima's comment and walked over to the bush. "This? This bush? Hah! It's not worthy of my paw slaps!" Teso said as he flicked one of the leaves. He turned his back on the bush with a bold look on his face. The bush was moving behind Teso's back, and from the bush emerged the huge figure of a rogue lioness, with a hungry look in her eyes.

Teso wasn't paying attention to what was behind him, only to the two cubs in front of him with a look of perplexity on his face. They looked scared of something. "Oh come on guys. The bush isn't really THAT nasty is it?" Teso asked as he turned his head and his eyes narrowed as he finally noticed the towering figure of the rogue.

"My, My. Quite an irresponsible father you have to leave you little ones....all alone." The rogue chuckled darkly as she walked out of the bush completely, making Teso step back in fear.

Nodding in acknowledgement once she saw that Kiara was ready to press onwards, Vitani followed her fellow lioness down to the river bank where she promptly halted. Allowing Kiara to take the plunge first, Vitani waited till the golden furred queen had made it about half way across the flowing water before she too, jumped into the cool river, enjoying the way it seemed to instantly rejuvenate her body after the walk it had just endured. Keeping her head above the surface, Vitani effortlessly paddled after Kiara until the two had reached the other side of the river. Pulling her now saturated frame out of the water, Vitani gave herself a thorough shake, leaving her pelt still somewhat damp but knowing that the hot sun that hung overhead would quickly finish the job of drying her off, Vitani wasn’t worried about this fact in the least bit. Turning to Kiara with a satisfied grin upon her muzzle, Vitani spoke up as she began to make her way towards their final destination.

”Almost there. Can’t wait to see the looks upon everyone’s faces when we show up Kiara. Wonder how much little Uzuri has grown by now.”

Feeling nice and refreshed from the quick dip in the river, Vitani seemed eager to arrive as she meandered on ahead, the surrounding landscape around her gradually shifting into denser looking territory. It still perplexed Vitani about how Schwari and company could reside in such a location, although recalling her times spent in The Outlands when she was younger, the former Outlander just assumed that it only took a little getting used to was all. Still, it didn’t seem like the kind of life that she would have enjoyed, and in this fact alone, she was happy that Ayari had opted to stay with her in The Pride Lands. He seemed happy enough with his choice, although at times, Vitani sensed that a small part of him, all be it as miniscule as possible, missed his former life to some degree anyways. Perhaps this wasn’t actually the case, but it was the way Vitani felt at times, especially when Ayari would get so caught up in telling their cubs about his travels as being the legendary King Of The Rogues. It didn’t bother Vitani at all, as she loved Ayari for who he was regardless and knowing that his past was surely behind him now, she was certain that life would always be as wonderful as it was for her each and every day she woke up with him by her side and her cubs being healthy and well.

==========

"Oh, stop trying to butter me up Schwari. It’s much too early for that you know.” Zina stated, giving her beloved mate a soft kiss over his muzzle before reluctantly rising to her paws.

Letting out another yawn and giving her tired frame a vigorous looking stretch, Zina went about the morning task of grooming her snow white pelt as she often did whenever she woke up. The only major change that was noticeable about the white furred Shaman, was the absence of her herb pouch, which typically hung from around her neck. Ever since they had moved to their jungle home, Schwwari had convinced her that she wouldn’t have any need for it and that she had nothing to hide anymore. It had taken a little convincing, but in the end, Zina had finally caved and retired her herb pouch to her favorite spot within their jungle home. The pouch itself still remained sacred to her though, seeing as it was the first kind act that Schwari himself had ever bestowed upon her. In theory, it was the symbol of the start of their friendship, which soon after, blossomed into their now undying love for one another. Glancing up momentarily from where she was bathing herself from, Zina smiled fondly at Uzuri as she heard the polite adolescent’s greeting, speaking up in response to her once her mate had finished addressing her.

”Good morning Zuri. Sleep well on top of Grumpy-Puss?” Smiling playfully, as she truly didn’t mean anything by her words, as even she had formed a bond with Husudu himself over time, Zina still joked around with Schwari’s brother on occasion.

Feeling the warmth from one side of her body, leaving now, Penda shivered slightly as she snuggled in closer to Schwari’s side, attempting to compensate from the cold that had now begun to coax her awake. It was in vein however, as the voices around her prevented the youngster from falling back into dream land. Opening her teal eyes slowly, Penda lazily rolled into a sitting position before taking a quick look around to see what was going on. Taking a brief moment to shake off the sleep, the little white lioness nimbly bounded atop her father’s back as she trotted up to Schwari’s head, giving his ear a playful tug and nuzzle to grab his attention. Adopting a cute looking smile as she spotted his eyes resting upon her, Penda spoke up in a sweet voice as she rubbed her little body against her father’s cheek.

”Morning Daddy. Can I have a bath please?”

==========

Trying his best to ignore what Karima and Teso were up to, Fumu continued to sit idly by as his onyx eyes peered off into the distance towards the direction to which his father had bounded off moments ago. As the sounds of Teso and Karima’s actions grew louder however, Fumu found himself feeling left out from whatever it was that they were up to. Finally giving into his own curiosity, Fumu turned his head, just in time to catch sight of the strange, large lioness who had suddenly materialized out from within the bush that Teso was now standing with his back toward. Seeing the look within her cold stare, Fumu’s eyes became big with fright as he stammered to cry out.

”Da…Da…DAD! Danger, come back!”

At the same point that Fumu had noticed the newcomer to the scene, Karima had caught sight of her too, causing a startled sounding gasp to leave her little muzzle as she eyed the scary looking lioness. Recalling her mother and father’s warnings, Karima feared for Teso’s life as she hurriedly scampered over to Teso’s side and urgently shoved him with her fore paws to get him to move. Trying her best not to look scared, even though she was terrified beyond belief, Karima turned to face the foreign lioness as she bared her little teeth and hissed.

”Leave us alone ya ol’ hag!” Karima spat, slapping her tiny fore paw down upon the ground below her, causing a small amount of dirt to fly upwards, striking the rogue lioness harmlessly against her cheek.

Suddenly remembering Ayari’s words from earlier, Fumu found himself moving as he trotted over and took up a spot next to his brother’s side. His father had said that there was power in numbers and even though the three small cubs wouldn’t have a fighting chance to survive against a fully grown lioness of this magnitude, Fumu wasn’t about to let his brother or Karima be harmed by anyone. Ayari had stated that brothers always stuck together and that’s what Fumu intended on doing. Trying to uphold a brave front as he stood by Teso, Fumu’s tail was the only dead giveaway that he was scared out of his wits, as it limply was tucked between his hind legs as he stared down the unfamiliar feline, hoping his dad would come before it was too late.

Shwari chuckled as he nipped his mate's neck affectionately. " I don't need to butter you up." Shwari purred quietly. Shwari was glad that he had helped Zina come to terms with her past. Though it was harder for Shwari to do the same since all the horrors of his past really occurred in the jungle, the place he was living in now. Everytime his daughter questioned Shwari about his cubhood, he would lie half the time so that she would not hear of the horrible suffering that could be out in the world. Shwari urged Zina to do the same, but he had no control over what she said to Penda.

Uzuri giggled at Zina's comment. "He's really comfortable Aunty! He's also way nicer then you think. Daddy is just really shy to be honest." Uzuri whispered as she gazed at her sleeping father. Oh how she wished her father would just drop the act! Uzuri then turned her attention to how the adorable Penda was behaving towards her father. It would be nice to have a cub herself one day.

Shwari chuckled as his daughter playfully tugged his ear. He really pitied who ever would be her mate in the future. She was a feisty girl. Shwari placed the young Penda in front of him and as requested began to give her a bath. He knew it would usually be Zina that gave Penda a bath, but he figured he should take some responsibility today. It took several minutes of licking until Penda was well groomed and clean. Shwari looked proudly at his daughter between his paws. "What do you want to do today my dear?" Shwari asked his daughter.

//

Teso shook in fear of the rogue that stood before him. All the stories Ayari told him were suddenly flashing through the young cub's mind once more. Was he, his cousin and his brother going to die right here? He wouldn't put it past the rogue to kill all three of them right now. Teso's eyes widened when he noticed Karima playing brave, and striking the rogue in the face with a bit of dirt. Had she gone insane?! They were already in deep enough trouble! Then Teso saw his brother walk up over by them and he felt himself calm down a bit. If Fuma was going to stand against the rogue, so would he! He would not be mocked if they survived.

The rogue chuckled darkly as she rubbed the dirt from her face. "Y-You got alot more work to do if you want to clean up that face!" Teso stuttered. He had no clue where that had come from, but he knew it really irritated the lioness as her claws had unsheathed from her paws.

"Ah. You've got quite a mouth on you. Just like your dear daddy..." The rogue purred as she advanced on the cubs. Teso stepped back as the lioness came forward slowly. "You know, maybe if you weren't Ayari's cubs I'd let you go. Sucks to be you right now doesn't it?" The rogue said with a wide toothed grin. Evil gleamed in her eyes and Teso could tell she would be striking soon. Teso's eyes narrowed slightly and when the rogue came a bit closer he jumped up and tore out one of her whiskers with his paws.

The rogue howled in pain and rage. Teso looked to his sibling and cousin with fear on his face. "Run!" Teso exclaimed and bounded towards the outlands. If there was any place they'd lose the rogue is the many dunes of the outlands. Perhaps they could hide in a termite mound and the rogue would give up. If they stayed there they'd be dead meat anyway, so it was best to at least try and get away. Teso only hoped that they could find their way back to the pridelands afterwards.

[OOC: They will find their way back btw KK, don't think that's going to be the plot ;P.]

Re: [Private] Kiarasmate and Kivuli

Penda seemed to bubble over with happiness from her father accepting to do what she had asked of him. Hopping gracefully off of his back, the white furred cub bounded over and hopped atop Schwari’s large fore paws where she went about the task of getting herself ready to be bathed. As her father’s tongue started licking over her small body, Penda couldn’t help herself as she giggled wildly from the way he was inadvertently tickling her from his gentle ministrations. It was definitely different from the way she was used to being bathed from Zina, but having such a strong attachment towards her father, Penda didn’t protest as her petite figure wriggled in between his fore paws until the licking session came to an end. Smiling up at Schwari with an appreciative expression etched over her adorable face, Penda tilted her head as she heard her father’s question. Reaching up one of her dainty fore paws, Penda gently pawed at Schwari’s dangling mane as she responded in a loving voice.

”Didn’t you say you would teach me how to swim today Daddy? I’m big enough to learn now, aren’t I?”

Having their jungle home being surrounded by the narrow river, swimming was definitely a life lesson that everyone had to become accustom to and Penda was no different. She had been quite adamant about learning, although both Zina and Schwari had mutually agreed that she was still too young to learn, or so they figured. Penda always seemed to be the type who wanted to learn everything she could, as early as she could, probably a trait picked up from Zina’s side, but most of the time, Penda would do as her father wished, as she truly looked up to him dearly. Waiting for a response from her father, Penda was right about to chime in again, when her teal eyes caught sight of movement coming from the path not too far from where she was resting against her father’s chest. Quickly rolling onto all fours and back onto solid ground, Penda made sure to stay close to Schwari’s side, as the scents coming from the approaching sounds wasn’t familiar to the young cub. Huddling herself against her father’s side, Penda caught sight of two lionesses who she had never seen before, who were slowly advancing towards them, causing the once feisty cub to now hide amongst Schwari’s large body.

Zina’s reaction to the new arrivals was quite the opposite of her little daughters however, as a broad smile worked its way over her muzzle. Quickly rising to all fours, The white furred Shaman bounded towards both lionesses, greeting them with affectionate head bumps and nuzzles as she exclaimed in a shocked voice.

”Vitani! Kiara! Wow! What an unexpected surprise!”

Upon reaching Schwari’s lands, it didn’t take both lionesses very long to locate their old friends. As they were greeted by Zina, Vitani giggled lightheartedly as she glanced around, taking note of every familiar face around her, along with a few new ones. Spotting both Husudu, who still seemed to be dozing quietly, as well as a stunningly beautiful young lioness who Vitani could only assume, was Uzuri, grown up quite a bit now, the former Outlander was happy to see that everyone was doing well. Hearing Zina’s remark, Vitani responded in a friendly voice as her eyes caught sight of the little white bundle tucked near Schwari’s side.

”Indeed it is Zina. Kiara and I decided we’d pay you a visit today, seeing as we both had a chance to slip away from our cubs and mates for a little while at least. And how have you been? Oh, and tell me Schwari,” Vitani stated, turning her focus to the grey furred male as she resumed speaking. ”Could that cute cub there ACTUALLY be yours?”

==========

Watching on in disbelief as it looked as though Teso tried to strike out at the rogue lioness, only managing to sever off one of her whiskers though, Karima felt a new found respect for Teso, as his bravery was quite enduring to say the least. Hearing his urgent plea however, Karima didn’t have much time to dwell upon this fact as her little legs took flight, chasing frantically after Teso, followed closely behind by Fumu. Karima had no idea on where they were going, as the fear of the strange lioness chasing her was clearly outweighing any other thoughts within her mind right now. All she knew was that they had truly pissed off the wrong creature and their lives were surely on the line.

Fumu on the other paw, had a good notion to where Teso was leading them. Both Vitani and Ayari had warned both brothers to never venture into The Outlands on their own, but seeing as this wasn’t up for debate under the given circumstance, Fumu blindly followed Teso’s lead without a word. It was imperative that the trio of cubs find a suitable hiding spot that would be too small for the much larger lioness to infiltrate. Being unable to think clearly due to the anxiety both his mind and body were being put under however, Fumu left this totally up to his brother as his tiny legs carried him onwards. Hoping in the back of his mind that his father had actually heard his departing cry for help earlier, and would be on his way to find them, Fumu stayed optimistic as he ran, being too afraid to even look back, in fear that one false step could be his last.

Shwari chuckled as his daughter squirmed and giggled whilst he gave her the bath she longed for. Normal cubs didn't enjoy taking baths. Though Penda was just like her mother, always wanting to be neat and tidy. After her bath Shwari was staring absently at his mate, his eyes meeting hers for a quick moment. His heart raced and a smile grew on his face. When his daughter squirmed about and asked him if he would teach her how to swim his eyes widened slightly and he looked down at her. It was true, Shwari had said it the day before but that was so that she wouldn't be so upset. That was the last thing Shwari wanted for his daughter.

"I don't know Penda. I just don't like the idea of you floating along a river. Tell you what, if you can get your mother to agree, I'll teach you." Shwari said softly, giving his daughter a gentle lick on the forehead. Shwari sort of figured that Zina would say no and his daughter wouldn't have to face any dangers.

Shwari smiled as he noticed Vitani and Kiara arrive on the scene. He quickly stood, and looked proudly towards them. "Well hello Vitani and Kiara! How long has it been?" Shwari asked.

"Not long enough." Husudu grunted, opening one eye tiredly. Uzuri giggled and jumped onto Husudu's back again, biting on his ear.

"Don't be so rude daddy! Common! Wake up! Say hi!" Uzuri whined. Husudu sighed as he looked up to his daughter. He couldn't say no to that face. Husudu lazily stood up and shook his daughter off of him. He sat down next to Shwari, rubbing his eye grumpily with his paw.

"As you can see Husudu hasn't changed all too much." Shwari said with a chuckle. He pushed Penda from behind his paw gently. "Say hi Penda. These are friends of mommy and daddy." Shwari whispered to his daughter.

//

Teso ran as far as his little paws could take him. He looked behind him at his brother and cousin. They were following closely as well. It seems as though it took the lioness time to recover from the pain of having her whiskers torn out as she was slowly catching up, but not quite a threat to them as of yet. Teso looked forward again. All he saw was sand, and termite mounds. How would they hide and get away?

Teso figured they should at least try and escape into one of the termite dens, hoping that the lioness would not be able to locate them in the shadows of the rock structures. He entered a termite mound quickly and hit in the darkness. There was an odd scent in there, so that would definitely throw the lioness off! The young prince watched as his cousin and brother hid as well. The lioness made her way into the den heaving.

Her eyes looked around intense with rage. She let out an angry roar as she tried to catch the scent of the cubs. "Where are you hiding you brats? Do you realize that you've sealed your own fates?! When I get ahold of you I'm going to-" The lioness's eyes narrowed as she saw another lioness walk out of the shadows. Teso's eyes widened as well, knowing that he had just taken them into the den of another rouge!

[OOC: I want it to be Zira, if you don't mind playing her again. She isn't as angry, but still bent on revenge. She plans to use Teso in order to extract that revenge on Vitani for betraying her, while at the same time killing the royal family. Though she does it with an elaborate rouse. Meaning that she tells Teso to meet her at certain times, and to not mention her to anyone ever besides her siblings =o]

Feeling her father’s gentle nudge and hearing his consoling words, Penda timidly peaked out from around Schwari’s fore leg, her teal eyes sizing up the two new comers before she built up enough courage to come out from hiding. Taking a few little steps towards both Vitani and Kiara, the white furred cub bowed her head in a show of respect to the two lionesses in front of her, an act she had seen many of the pride lionesses, including Uzuri, do whenever they greeted people of a higher authority than themselves. Speaking up in a shy, yet still approachable tone, Penda addressed both felines in turn.

”Hi Kiara. Hello Vitani. Nice to meet you two.”

Hoping that this was at least satisfactory to her father’s expectations of her, Penda quickly returned herself to Schwari’s side, keeping close to his paws for protection and comfort regardless whether she felt as though the new faces meant her any harm or not. She trusted her dad’s judgment though and seeing her mother being equally as friendly towards their company, Penda slowly but surely began to relax and settle back into her usual routine as she pranced around Schwari’s legs and did her utmost to try and gain his attention while the adults spoke of things that disinterested her due to the fact that she knew very little about what had transpired amongst the former band of felines previously, aside from the few stories she had managed to get out of both her parents on rare occasions.

”It’s very nice to meet you as well Penda. Such a cute name for such a cute cub.” Vitani stated before watching as the embarrassed cub retreated back to her father’s side.

Turning her focus back to Uzuri now, Vitani observed the adolescent rousing Husudu, which in turn, confirmed the former Outlander’s suspicions that she was indeed, the same little cub who had been delivered to them, much to everyone’s surprise, by Tume himself, the former enemy of Kovu and his pride. Grinning pleasantly from the reaction their presence had invoked from Husudu himself, as Vitani just assumed that Schwari’s brother would still be rooted in his same old ways, as that was the type of character he had always come off as being, Vitani took Husudu’s remark in stride as she spoke up to Uzuri in a fond voice.

”My my Uzuri. You’ve grown into such a gorgeous lioness and it’s good that you’re still keeping your father in line.”

Everyone seemed so happy around her, which lead Vitani to fail to recognize that a certain familiar face was no where to be seen. It wasn’t until she took a more thorough glance around at each and every member of Schwari’s Pride, did she notice the absence of Siri, the last remaining member of Ayari’s former group who had seemingly won over Husudu’s softer side from the last time she had seen her. Simply assuming that perhaps that Siri was out on a hunting expedition or something to that nature, yet still wanting to know how she was fairing, Vitani turned her focus towards Husudu before innocently inquiring in a friendly voice.

”So how are you and Siri getting along these days Husudu? I’m surprised that she’s not here right now in fact. I take it she’s on the hunt maybe?”

==========

Her heart still pounding wildly against her chest as she ran, Karima followed Teso into the unfamiliar landscape of the barren Outlands as she panted both out of exhaustion and fear. The realization that at any given moment, she might feel the jaws or claws of the rogue lioness who was in hot pursuit, digging into the back of her neck or back drove Karima onwards as the sight of a nearby termite mound grew closer with each stride she took. It soon became apparent that Teso had planned for them to hide within the looming structure and spotting Teso vanishing into the dark confines of the decaying refuge, Karima just hoped that they would be safe. Upon entering the poorly lit abode, Karima had to wrinkle her nose from the foul smell that emitted throughout the termite mound, probably caused from the puddles of stagnant water that pooled near the back of the cavern itself. Finding Teso’s small frame within her pitch black surroundings, Karima huddled against her friend, trembling slightly as she did her best to steady her breathing as not to give away their position to the rogue if she should follow them inside.

Bringing up the rear and shadowing every movement that both Karima and Teso took, Fumu was the last to enter into the dank passage as he took up a spot on the other side of karima, sandwiching her in between himself and his brother’s small bodies as his onyx eyes stayed glued upon the entranceway to the termite mound. Hoping that they had at least lost their pursuer’s attention, Fumu’s heart sank within his chest as the figure of the rogue lioness filled the opening of the cavern. Feeling as though everything was going to come to a bitter end for all three of them, Fumu was quite startled when another lioness came onto the scene. Watching in amazement as the new lioness confronted the other rogue and hearing her chilling voice, Fumu knew that neither feline was friendly and that he should still stay on guard if at all possible.

”Not very bright, are we? Coming into someone else’s territory and running your mouth like you own the place. What’s the matter Dear? Real prey too tough for you that you need to turn to feeding upon someone else’s cubs?” the opposing lioness spat as she glared at her company with an unwavering stare, her jagged claws fully unsheathed to show that she meant business.

Shwari watched proudly as his daughter acted in the exact way he had expected her to. It was obvious that when Penda grew up, she would be a polite, beautiful and wise lioness just like her mother. Shwari listened as Vitani, Kiara and Zina exchanged stories over what had occurred since the last time they had seen each other. It was a bit dull for him to be listening to their female matters, so he looked to his brother with a grin, whom was laying down and playing with a little piece of grass. Uzuri meanwhile was licking her fur clean whilst the adults spoke.

Shwari looked down at Penda as her shyness began to melt away. It was a bit irritating to have a cub trying to acquire his attention in the middle of adult conversation. "Uh Penda. How about you go play with your cousin hm?" Shwari said gently, though with a clear bit of irritating in his tone. He didn't want to make Penda feel bad but she had to learn that she couldn't always be the center of his attention.

Uzuri looked to Penda and quickly trotted over to her little cousin. "Come on Penda, lets go explore a bit!" Uzuri said with a smile. She knew Penda would be a handful but Uzuri had been baby sitting the cub on many occasions since she herself was still a cub.

As Uzuri and Penda were off, Husudu eyes closed at Vitani's question. Shwari looked down as well sadly. "She disappeared during the rebel battles. I hate to say this but I think she has...been killed." Shawri murmured quietly. Husudu snorted.

"We never found a body Shwari, don't make such stupid assumptions." Husudu said angrily. Shwari sighed. After Siri gave birth to her son, she went to fight soon after. It wasn't a good idea considering the exhaustion caused by the birth. Though nobody could stop her for wanting to protect the land her baby would grow up in. It had become plain and obvious that she and Husudu were alot closer then friends as well. In fact they were planning to mate after the battles but sadly, Siri had gone missing. Husudu never wanted to hear she was dead, though he knew deep down that was a strong possiblity.

As for Siri's son, he had flowed down the river after falling into it. Everyone tried their best to help the young cub, but to no avail. It was for this exact reason that Shwari hated the idea of having his daughter near flowing water.

//

Teso watched the scene, knowing that the first rogue was obviously frightened as well now. She wasn't fighting three little cubs anymore, but another rogue! She knew that there was a huge risk in fighting this other rogue, especially since she tired herself out on the chase. "You know how hard it is to find food. Such a scrawny thing like you MUST realize that! Any food is good food!" The rogue growled quietly, tensing up slightly. She wasn't planning on fighting this other rogue, but it seemed like that was where this was going.

[Sorry for god modding now, cuz I sorta want this part to be included in my post]

The rogue finally snapped into reality knowing that if she ran, she would be pursued by this other rogue anyways. If she killed this old timer however, she would not only win some territory over to herself but more food than she could need for a few days! It was obvious what needed to be done at this point!

The rogue leaped at the opposing lioness and rolled around with her for several moments. Both were biting and scratching at one another. It was after a few more moments of scrapping did the rogue end up being pinned down the by older and much stronger lioness. "I-I will leave! I will leave if you just let me go!" The rogue said with fear on her face. Teso knew how rogues fought from his father's stories but he didn't want to see her die. Nobody was harmed by her so he figured she should be let go. Though what could he, a cub, do to stop this senseless killing?

Teso collected his thoughts for a moment. If the other rogue had seen him, his brother and his cousin run in why did she not attack? It was on this simple question did Teso step out from the shadows and approach the other rogue quickly. "M-My father says when a fight is won, there is no point in taking the life..." Teso said quietly. He could see his cousin and brother also creeping out of the shadows. The rogue looked to the young cub with fear in her eyes then back up at Zira.

Being too accustom to always having her father’s attention, Penda was a bit taken aback when she heard Schwari’s words. Halting in mid prance, Penda’s expression slightly melted into that of confusion and disappointment as her little ears lowered. Still, not wishing to be on the receiving end of a verbal lashing, Penda nodded obediently as she responded to her father in a disheartened voice.

”Yes Daddy.”

Penda’s mood quickly changed as the prospects of going on an adventure with Uzuri entered her thoughts. Dawning a big smile, Penda bounded over to her cousin as she eagerly followed her away from the small group of adults who were lost in their own conversation with one another. Taking this most opportune time to practice her hunting skills upon Uzuri’s swaying tail as she walked, Penda happily trailed after the bigger lioness as they made their way down the familiar path. After growing tired of harassing Uzuri’s tail, Penda picked up the pace so she was now walking alongside her cousin before speaking up to her in a hopeful voice as her teal eyes sparkled with curiosity.

”Zuri, Zuri, tell me a story please? Who are those new lionesses with Mommy zina and Daddy Schwari? Why did we have to leave while they talked? Is something wrong?”

==========

Keeping by her mate’s side as she watched her daughter going off with Uzuri, Zina stayed relatively quiet as she let Schwari and Husudu fill in the grim details about what had happened to Siri and her cub. Even though it was already in the past, the white furred Shaman found herself tearing up near the end of her mate’s explanation. Siri had been one of Zina’s closest friends for as long as she could remember and now that she was gone, it never ceased to bring out Zina’s emotions whenever Siri’s name was brought up. She was like a sister to her and would always be a part of Zina’s life no matter what. Mouthing a silent prayer for Siri, kivuli and their lost cub, Zina rested her head against Schwari’s side as she sniffed quietly.

Vitani’s reaction, while not being quite as emotionally driven as Zina’s, was still similar in respect. Hearing the news about her old friend, as well as her cub, Vitani knew that Ayari would be heartbroken once she would have to break the news to him. Lowering her head in a show of respect to the fallen, Vitani allowed Schwari to finish his story uninterrupted before she responded in a mournful tone, her focus being mainly upon Husudu as she spoke.

”I’m so sorry to hear that. I truly hope you’re right though Husudu and I really do commend you for continuing to raise Uzuri despite this fact. You really do have your heart in the right place.”

==========

Watching the drama unfold before the both of them, Fumu and Karima seemed to be too unsure of what to do as they simply remained huddled where they were. For Fumu, it was the uncertainty of whether or not they’d make it out of the situation with their lives, as both rogue lionesses appeared to be quite intent on killing something. For Karima, it was more the point of how much trouble they were going to be in if they even made it out alive to begin with.

As the struggle came to its crescendo, Zira managed to pin the weaker lioness to the ground. Snarling viciously and having her paw raised high in the air, her needle-like claws fully extended and ready to deliver a finalizing strike, Zira’s actions were momentarily halted by a small voice coming from beside her, causing the coldhearted feline to glance over at Teso, who had bravely stepped forward and spoken his peace. Narrowing her eyes at the young cub, something clicked within Zira’s brain as she reluctantly moved off of the immobilized lioness, allowing her to flee if she wished. Just to punctuate herself though, Zira gave the brazen lioness’ hind quarters a sharp swipe with her claws, leaving several long and painful looking lacerations within her flesh to ensure that she’d never come back again. Turning her attention to Teso now that the rogue lioness was no longer present, Zira spoke up in an intimidating tone as she stared down the youngster.

”You got some guts Cub. And where is this father of yours now and why would he let his precious cubs out of his sight, hmm?”

Uzuri chuckled quietly as she swayed her tail back and forth, knowing how much entertainment it provided for her little cousin. It was really fun to watch Penda sometimes, only because she was so adorable and innocent. Uzuri walked silently until Penda broke the silence with another one of her questions. Uzuri giggled and looked to Penda with a twinkle in her eye. "It's a long story. One that you aren't yet ready to hear. My father made me wait so long, and he still didn't tell me the full story." Uzuri murmured quietly. A smile grew on her face as she nipped the little cub's ear gently.

"You know your mommy was a shaman right? A medicine lioness! She helped whoever she could, but she hated boy lions. Dad didn't tell me why, because not even he knows. Though she fell in love with your daddy when he gave her a present that made her melt over him." Uzuri said with a sigh. Perhaps she would find a romance to that caliber one day. If the great kings above permitted of course, by keeping her father out of her romantic affairs! Who was he to say when she could mate or not?

"So Penda? Ever climbed a tree?" Uzuri asked with a wide grin.

//

Shwari nuzzled and comforted his mate, hating the fact he had to repeat the story and open old wounds. Husudu was silent the whole time but Shwari knew he had probably started hurting again regarding Siri's loss as well. Shwari looked to his two friends and at how upset Kiara had gotten as well as Vitani. "I'm really sorry to have made this visit such a gloomy thing. How has life been for you Vitani and Kiara? A little birdy told me there was a new queen to the throne, and two new bodyguards by her side." Shwari said trying to change the subject. A smile grew on his face at the thought of how brutal and overprotective Vitani's children would become over the princess.

Husudu stood and trotted off quickly from the scene since he needed some time to think as well as some water. He quickly made his way through the forest looking back every now and again out of old habits. The gray furred male stopped at a clear water drinking pool and looked down at his reflection. His eyes narrowed as he stared at his reflection with a glare. "Why Siri. Why did I let you go? Why did I not stop you? Perhaps if Kivuli had survived he would've taken better care of you than I did..." Husudu muttered quietly. He then let out a loud angry roar, and slapped his paw on the pool of water. His reflection shimmered and was incredibly unclear.

//

Teso gulped not liking the tone she was taking. She sounded WORSE then the rogue that was just sent off packing with blood gushing out her flank. Perhaps this was far more foolish then brave. "M-My father went after s-some rogues that were entering the pride lands! If the rogues knew who he was they wouldn't dare walk onto the land!" Teso said quietly. He was trying to give the rogue a subliminal hint that if she did anything to them, Ayari would come right after her and make sure she paid for it.

Curling her muzzle lip in a pouty expression as it seemed as though she was always too young to be informed about anything and everything around her, Penda at least was moderately satisfied with Uzuri’s response, as her cousin had at least provided her with a little more detail than she had previously known about. Hanging on every single word that left the older lioness’ mouth, Penda looked slightly bewildered from what Uzuri was telling her. She couldn’t understand how her mother could dislike anyone and being raised in such peaceful times and having such loving parents and pride members around her at all times, the concept of hate was quite foreign to Penda herself. Looking up at Uzuri with an understanding stare however, Penda nodded as she replied politely.

”Thank you for telling me that Zuri. Everyone thinks I’m too young to understand everything, but I know I can always count on you Zuri!”

Returning her cousin’s playful gesture with a light nibble upon Uzuri’s fore paw, as there was no way she could reach the bigger feline’s ear, Penda’s ears swiveled as she heard Uzuri’s next inquiry. Not really understanding why her cousin would ask such a peculiar question, as she had never seen any of her pride members climb a tree, nor did she comprehend any rational reason why they would need to in the first place, Penda shook her little head as she replied in an intrigued voice.

”No, why Zuri? Are we supposed to know how to climb trees? Isn’t that what monkeys do, not lions?”

==========

”It’s quite alright Schwari. No need to apologize. We would have had to find out sooner or later after all and better to hear the news from friends than anyone else. I just hope Ayari will take the news better than we all have I suppose, although I don’t see that happening in all honesty. He’s not like that anymore. At least he doesn’t hide his emotions.”

It appeared that the change of subject was exactly what was needed, as Vitani’s once distraught looking expression quickly shifted into a more pleasant one from the topic of her and Kiara’s cubs being brought up. Adopting a proud smile, Vitani nodded as she gave Kiara a gentle nudge with her fore paw. Glancing over at Husudu for a second, noticing that the grey furred male was taking his leave, Vitani turned her attention back to both Zina and Schwari before she responded in a joyful voice.

”That would be true Schwari. Kiara was blessed with a beautiful daughter, whose name is Karima, and both Ayari and I were blessed, or burdened, depending on their behavior mind you, with two handsome and healthy males, to which we named Fumu and Teso. We will definitely have to bring them by for a visit once Ayari feels it’s safe enough to do so. He’s quite protective over his sons, as well he should be, although with Karima to keep them both in line and plenty of helpful paws to assist as well from all of Kovu’s pride members, I’m sure it won’t be long before you get the opportunity to meet them for yourselves.”

Having composed herself enough by this point, Zina remained close by Schwari’s side as she listened to Vitani’s reply, her own countenance showing her motherly side at the mention of the three cubs. Schwari had truly broken the barrier that had kept Zina’s feelings in check for so long and now that she had her own daughter to care for, it was almost as if she were a completely reborn lioness herself. Purring happily from the thought of meeting all of Vitani’s and Kiara’s extended family, Zina couldn’t resist but to nuzzle Schwari affectionately as she stated in a joking manner to her mate while giving him a longing stare.

”Better be careful Darling or we just might have to have another cub of our own, just to catch up.”

==========

Zira was no stranger to subtle means of intimidation, although she would have never expected such tactics from someone as young as this. Still, never being the type to waver under any circumstances, the crafty lioness jeered at Teso as she lowered her skinny frame so she was now at his eye level. As her cold stare pierced through the young male’s brave front, Zira spoke up in a loathing tone as her still ejected claws tapped lightly against the dirt below her.

”Trying to send me a little hint, are we Cub? Very ballsy of you. Your father must have quite a reputation for you to speak so highly of him, but he’s not the only one who does you know. I’ve done quite a lot of things in my time as well, although infanticide has never been one of those things.” Zira stated as she slowly reached out a fore paw and traced one of her crimson stained claws along the underside of Teso’s chin before continuing to speak. ”It’s never too late though. As clever of a cub as you seem to be, unless you wish to give me reason to extend my list of regrets in life, I suggest you and your siblings take your leave now. Go back to living your little carefree lives from wherever it is you strayed from and tell your daddy that he should keep a closer watch over his precious little bundles of joy, for next time, perhaps you three won’t be as fortunate as you were today.”

Giving Teso’s cheek a light cuff with her fore paw, Zira arose to all fours again before she started to make her way back into the deeper part of the dank termite mound. As heartless of a lioness as she might have once been, she couldn’t find it in herself to dispose of three cubs, especially one as brave and bold as Teso appeared to be. It wouldn’t serve her any useful purpose, and so was a waste of time and energy towards her future plans, to which she was still uncertain on how she was going to succeed with.

Spotting the daunting looking rogue moving away now, both Karima and Fumu slowly came out of hiding as they joined Teso, each cub taking up a spot on either side of him. Karima was the first to speak up as she nudged Teso’s side to grab his attention, which appeared to be still transfixed upon the distant rogue lioness. Keeping her voice low as not to bother the departing threat, Karima addressed Teso in an urgent tone.

”C’mon Teso, let’s get outta here. Ya know Ayari is going to be worried if we don’t go back right now.”

Nodding in agreement at Karima’s statement, Fumu started to make his way towards the entranceway of the termite mound, hoping that both his brother and friend would follow. Glancing back over his shoulder to ensure this fact, Fumu spoke up in a slightly louder voice than Karima had as he did his best to coax both Karima and Teso to hurry things along. Fumu himself was certain that Ayari probably would be both worried, as well as cross with the three of them for running off like they had, even though they didn’t have much of a choice in the first place.

”Yes, what are you waiting for Teso? You really want to get in trouble with Ayari and Vitani?”

While she hadn’t seemed all that interested in what was being stated behind her back, this fact quickly changed as Zira heard the two names being mentioned by one of the cubs. Staying where she was however and making no apparent motion that she even knew who the two felines in question were, Zira’s sharp mind rapidly began piecing everything together. Standing before her were clearly the offspring of her own backstabbing daughter and her own former pride member to whom she had raised herself until the day he had ran off and abandoned the rest of them. It all seemed too good to be true and the more she pondered over the thought, the more her conniving brain worked to formulate a plan to use this newly acquired information to her advantage. Spotting the cubs about to take their leave now, Zira called out in a thoughtful voice, her words being mainly directed towards Teso as she did so.

”Don’t let your father be too hard on you Cub. After all, if it wasn’t for you, I’m sure all three of you would have met an untimely fate at the claws of either that pathetic rogue or myself even. You got some real potential, never forget that and never let anyone tell you otherwise.”
