lol but anyways, i think its a few possible things:

- Kiara was always kind of a "Dadd'ys little girl" (to quote cubby Kovu^^)
so i think maybe she was being sarcastic, becuase she wasnt with her parents for once.

-Vitani was just trying to tease Nala, get into her head. One key thing that villlianous charries
usually do is to use what their oponent loves most, and turn it against them.

- She was implying that Kiara was now an outcast, becuase she was with Kovu

-She was trying to distract Nala, by worrying her about her daughter.

-It was just a mean comment to piss her off XD

Has anyone else noticed that Nala adds another syllable into Vitani's name? I hear it as "Vi-ta-la-ni" when Nala says it.
Also, how did Nala know her name? Kovu had to be introduced to Simba by Zira ("Haven't you met my son, Kovu?") where as Nala knew Tani from the start, and seemed quite angry about it too!
Maybe "Vatalani" is her real name... the name Nala gave her... DUM DUM DUM!

I have never noticed that myself. To me, it sounds like Nala simply says "Vitani!" It might sound as though she adds an extra syllable because she sounds so aggressive, idk.

You have to remember that Nala was there all the time through Scars reign, and Zira was supposed to have lived in the Pridelands too during that time. Zira mentions that she gave birth to Kovu shortly before Simba banished them, meaning that Kovu was born not long before Simba returned to claim the throne. This explains why Simba didn’t know Kovu by name, he was just a baby when he was banished with his family. When it comes to Nala, however, she must have known Zira and her cubs, as they are supposed to be from the same pride. It’s quite likely that Vitani and Kovu are the same age, littermates. So Nala probably saw them as infants and learned their names from Zira. We don’t know how much time passed between Nala leaving Pride Rock to find help, and her returning with Simba, and we don’t know exactly when Kovu and Vitani were born. But I assume that Nala saw Ziras babies and were told their names, or that she learned Vitanis name later somehow.

I agree with KM , it is a tactic used by people wanting to cause trouble, which the outlanders are good at, but ive just remembered a theory I heard

The theory is that Scar mated with Nala even though Zira was his queen, but Vitani's birth was an accident. Scar didnt see Nala a worthy mother and so he and Zira adopted Tani and she never knew, and Nala didn't ever see Tani grow up as Scar kept her away.

Of course Nala then runs off, then when she comes back she has the role of queen to deal with and something like that would be at the back of her mind

So, she knew she gave birth to a cub but never saw who it was? Possible, I suppose. Though it does add to the "timeline" issue I usually bring up when people try to theorize that Kovu and Scar have met, which is impossible.

To put it simply, in order for Kiara and Kovu (and thus, Vitani) to be remotely close to the same age (as they are depicted in SP), they must have been born within the same month or so. Given the rapid growth of lions (they reach full size by about 2 years of age), any more time between the births of the three would result in major size differences at the time of their first meeting.

Also a given is the time gap between the end of Scar's reign (and his life, presumably) and the time that "Fluffy" is born. Even assuming, for the story line's sake, that "Fluffy" is Kiara, that still leaves at least several months (the time it took for all the vegetation to grow back after Scar was dethroned) between Kovu and Vitani's birth and Kiara's. If there was really this kind of time between their births, Kovu would have been nearly double Kiara's size when they first met.

So, the Nala mothering Vitani bit doesn't really make much sense.

Even though Vitani is considered very pretty by most LK fans, she was designed to be an ugly, scrawny lioness. I think she was jealous because Kiara is supposed to be the pretty little princess and she's so ugly.
