Flaws of Simba's pride

Before I start off let me say TLK:SP was a worthy sequel and probably once of the best compared the other sequels(Scamp's adventure, Little Mermaid 2, Stitch has a glitch, ect.)

However there were some things that bugged me about the movie. Some are factual and some are just my opinion.

1. The many inconsistancies(spelling?)-Factual

Yes i know, in a hand drawn 2D movie there are BOUND to be mistakes, however there weren't half as many mistakes in TLK than TLK:SP.

Kiara's inner leg fur dissapears throughtout the entire movie.

They need to make up there minds about wether Kiara's nose bride is smooth like Nala's or bumped like Simba's.

Kovu's leg coloring doesn't seem to dissapear as much as Kiara's does, but it does do this.

Simba HAS inner leg coloring near the end of the "We are one" bit.

Nuka's mane is full as he walks towards cub Vitani complaining about Kovu and in the elephant graveyard scene when Vitani lights those sticks and says "That's it!" His mane is GONE http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tai9NO9t ... re=related at 39 secs.

Now here are my personal views about the film. You may agree, you may not.

1. Kovu. I think instead of making Kovu a color clone of Scar and then have him act nothing like Scar they could've mixed it up a bit. Give Kovu that twisted smile, blood red eyes, and lanky frame, as well as those extended claws and make him more outlander because if you think about it the rest of his siblings including his mother are all lanky and thin while he's thick. Guess what im trying to say is that Kovu doesn't look too much like Zira...

2. Kiara. Her NAME means dark but her PELT is of light coloration.

....what? I think disney should've kept her old name, Shani, which means adventurous because of that doesn't discribe her i don't know what does. The only thing I really like about Kiara is her fur coloration. Bright colors draw my attention and To me Kiara wasn't all that bright(mentally...). Also she was basically just a female version of Simba with a touch of Nala here and there. It may be cliche the main love interest always has blue eyes but i think they would've blended well against that light pelt.

3. Vitani. Character is great. Shame she wasn't in the movie much and i'm going to say this now.

I have no problem with Vitani's design, but i can't help but wonder...

Maybe a tanner pelt like Zira's with striking green eyes framed by doubled colored eyeshades instead of Dark one?
Also...What's with her no having earstripes as a cub but they magically appear as an adult? Maybe it's the opposite with females.
Male: Have earims as cub-losse them as adults.
Female: no ear rims as cub-gain them as adults.

4. Nuka. He was a pretty funny character. Shame he had to die though i honestly think if Simba had just escaped Zira would've wanted to go to war anyway as Kovu wasn't with the plan anymore. I like Nuka's design. I still can't help but wonder why he looks the most pathetic of the outlanders. It kinda bugs me how they also make him a clone of Scar...while his eyes are the oly difference. Perhaps a nice mixture of tan and brownish red with striking green eyes?

5. Simba. I didn't like Simba in this one. Actually alot of people i know didn't. The prevailing reason is because he's overprotective and they never really gave us a official reason why he was so over protective. Some say "Because Zira killed Kopa and Kiara could be next." but there's no proof of this. And if Zira killed Kopa Simba would've no doubt killed her. In my opinion they tried to make Simba a Mufasa rip-off.





But they were probably trying to make him look older...
Simba's golden yellow color
is now a dull orange one.

6. Nala. They should've left her design be. Enlarging her chin just wasn't neccasary. They could've at least left her design alone and added the big chin when Kiara was a young adult. She could've been in the movie more. I do like how they put an end to the debate of Nala's eye color making them a solid blue throughout the whole movie.

7. Zira. No complaints really. I do think instead Making Zira's design from scratch the could've roughed up one of the pridelanders from Scar's reign so there wouldn't be the big question of where she was during the battle on pride rock.

It also bugs me how they make no reference to who Vitani, Nuka, and Kovu's father is. At least give us a hint.

Err, Kiara means ''brightness'' in Italian. Most likely because she finally brightened Simba's mind by explaining him the full meaning of ''we are one''. I know it also means ''little dark one'', but I doubt they used that meaning for her name.

About Nuka, well, he'd die anyway because there was no way he'd join the Pridelanders.

As for Kovu, they made him look like Scar so everyone would think that he was exactly like Scar, but he turned out to be the opposite. They must have given him the Pridelander look because he was never a true Outsider, he was just confused.

Simba and Nala look like that so they will look like Mufasa and Sarabi.

Simba's personality in the sequel must have been the result of his hate that had blinded him.

Zira and the Outsider lionesses could have been away during the battle. What bugs me about Zira is some of her movements that are impossible for a lion to do.

I don't really have any problem about Vitani, I like her the way she is.

As for Vitani's, Nuka's and Kovu's father, it was most likely a rogue, since there are no males in Zira's pride. There wasn't any important character to father them, so they just didn't mention their father at all.

All in all, I don't see many flaws in this movie. The only thing that really bugs me is Zira's insanity and her movements. I like her as a character, but she was way more insane than Scar and power-hungry. Kovu's sudden change of personality was weird too, normally it must have taken him a few weeks or even months to change his personality dramatically like that.

Personally, the smaller design flaws never bothered me. I am just annoyed at Nalas eyes and Simbas purple nose, lol.

One thing that really bothers me is how Zira almost stands up and waves her "arms" around in My Lullaby, it just looks wrong.

I think that under the circumstances... Since they didn't have a lot of fancy computers and stuff back then... That the flaws in these movies are minor and not even worth mentioning. Overall, they were fantastic movies - all of 'em.

This I don't agree with. How is Kovu supposed to physically resemble Scar when the two aren't even related? The reason he looks so different from the other outlanders is because he isn't really Scar's son. And of course, he's bulky because he's been trained to be a fighter his entire life lol. Zira would have made sure to keep him strong and healthy so he could battle Simba.
I know it woulda helped with symbolism and stuff if they had kept him looking like Scar... but somehow it wouldn't really look right. And like you mention later in your post, Simba looks too much like Mufasa and Kiara too much like a mixture of both her parents. These lions need to look unique or they'd all look like clones lol.
I think Kovu's scar is meant to symbolize his terrible family history. It's something he can't change or ignore since it's always going to be there, but the best he can do is forgive himself and move on. ^^

I would have liked to know how Zira and her pride got exiled
and why Vitani's ear rims kept vanishing. I personally think they enlarged Nala's chin to give the impression
that she aged a little

Nala and Simba's desiigns were changed to show that they've aged. Though I would have liked Nala and Vitani to have more screen time or even one of the random outlanders (and pridelanders) have a line here and there and Vitani's adult design I think should have been more consistent with her cub design, I do like it and think it's a pretty good sequel.

okay buddy *takes a deep breath*

ONE= if all youre gonna do is pick on the film, why post here? nobody says you HAVE to.

TWO= Simba is protective because of everything that happened to him! wouldnt you be just a BIT protective of your family too, if your uncle killed your dad? so THATs the reason, and if you want proof, watch TLK one.

THREE= they did NOT try to "make simba a mufasa rip-off" as you say. Simba is mufasa's SON so of course theyre going to be similar when simba gets older.

Also, seriously, if you look at movie for it's flaws, you'll never enjoy it. I could watch TLK1 and say to myself, "oh his voice shouldn't sound like that" or "mufasa looks fat" every two second, but I don't, because I want to enjoy it. Neh?
