Scar was right, it WAS their fault!

I was just thinking lately, Scar tells the hyenas "It's the lionesses's fault!" when the food isn't coming in. Plus, Sarabi says "We're being forced to overhunt!"

The we part is very chilling! It means it wasn't those hyenas killing all those animals and creating ruin that created a disaster zone, it was the lionesses committing genocide to feed the hyenas and please their own tyrant of a king!

It's a wonder the animals ever trusted them again after Scar's reign.

I get what you are saying it. The known statement "I'm just following orders" doesn't absolve one of personal responsibility like it does in the real world. Sarabi and the lionesses should have spoke up sooner that Scar's orders were breaking the Circle of Life. (If they did, the movie doesn't tell us this.)

That said, the management of the kingdom lies with the king himself. It was Scar who brought a large pack of hyenas in the Pride Lands. It was him who made the lionesses hunt for themselves and the hyenas. And it was Scar who refused to face the consequences of his actions and instead blamed for the lionesses for being lazy. Ultimately, Scar **is** to blame for the decline of the Pride Lands.
